Puppy play pen.

    Is there any places in Dublin city area that I could bring a 10yr old child to play with puppies?
    Is there like a puppy play pen perhaps?

    Do you think a breeder would allow her to play with them for a bit of cash?

    She's got a fascination with puppies and i'd love to bring her out for the day and let her take photos etc.

    Why not drop up to Ashtown dog pound in Ashtown (back of the Halfway house pub on the Navan Rd).

    They're always looking for volunteers to walk their dogs and you'd only be too welcome.

    If you need further information PM and I'll try help you.

    But I'm surprised you don't know a dog owner whose dog your daughter could play with.

    I've got a pitbull/staff X puppy (six months old), but he'd be a little strong for your daughter I suspect. Which is a pity, because he loves children.

    One thing to watch with all puppys. They can be nippy and give little play bites. Plus some dogs aren't great with children, like Jack Russells and some others.

    Unfortunetly some of the best dogs for children are on the restricted breeds list, like mine and most esp. the Staffordshire Bull Terrier (nicknamed 'the Nanny dog' in the UK & USA because of its reputation with children).

    You could also try talking to these people - Peata. (not to be confused with PETS the animal lib nutters).
    They use animals as therapy in hospitals and other institutions, do school visits etc., so they might help you out. Their dogs are very highly trained to be gentle and quiet so would be great with children.
    (of course they may not have too many puppies but might have small dogs)
