    Hi All,

Got a 99 Daewoo Matiz that has seen better days and has been lying idle in my driveway since August. I've tried to bring it back to life with standard jump leads to no avail (even with an hour of charging against another car).

I've been in this situ before and had a recovery specialist come out with some sort of turbo charger that brought the car back to life in about 60 seconds. Can you rent these things anywhere?

If not, what are my other options - would a new battery be an option or should I just get it towed to the nearest garage for a service?

Change the battery 2 options 1) Halfords or Motor Factors 2) Breakers , Factory Batteries are always the best in a car if you can get a decent one at a good price go for it.. Check the Oil as well. Them Daewoos are notorious for eating oil.

Once the car is started - take it for long drive to charge up the battery. Personally, I'd remove the battery and charge it overnight, just to be sure. If the battery holds charge once fully charged, then you've nothing to worry about.

    Personally, I wouldn't buy a battery from a breakers. It's a false economy.

Or halfords unless your wallet needs to loose a bit of weight. Try your local motor factor

Just get a new battery and you will be fine.

Definately wouldn't agree with this statement. The factory battery in my mondeo lasted 70k miles. The Varta replacement has done over 120k so far. The factory battery in our Avensis died without warning at 85k.

Best bet is the local motor factor, and not one of those dire ones in shopping centres... go to a nice small place where they sell car parts and not bling.
