I'm 24, dropped out of College 2 years ago. Most people my age would have finished their degree, travel for for a few years before doing a postgrad. If I wanted to travel now, I wouldn't want to be 27 without being qualified but I'm at a loss as to what to do here, I think getting away for a while would be good. Anyone in the same situation?
    Thank You

I was kind of in the same situation because i was the youngest out of all my group of friends so i was going to graduate college a year after them. I went to college at SDSU in San Diego so when they were planning on heading away and trying to convince me to complete my final year after we got back. I was trying to convince them to postpone it a year. Since i had a house over there i was able to convince them to come over to America in April and they could stay with me. Some of them felt they needed repeats in September and couldn't travel anyways. So delaying the trip for a 6 months didn't seem that bad to them.

Anyways the point is that when i got back the last thing i wanted to do was college. I was glad that i was able to get them to hold off for the summer. I gave up on the idea of working for a while and i'm going arond the world again next summer. Traveling really changes your perspective on things. Go for it if you feel you really need to travel. College isn't everything.

I was thinking of doing some travelling in the new year, just I haven't been able to convince any friends to go. Has anyone ever organised a trip with people you didn't know, not just by yourself? Are there good websites for this? Where would you start? Any help?

No not american. I'm Irish. I was 22/23 when i went traveling.

I wouldn't bother organizing a trip with people i didn't know. You'll meet lots of people you can choose to travel or hang out with for a while once you're on the road. hostels are great places to meet people. a few scoops one night with a bunch of lads from cork, toronto or berlin can make you some great friends and change your travel plans. it will feel weird being alone at first and the culture shock will hit you more. but there will be thousands of people going at it alone. so you're not the only one.
