    Hey guys.

I was reading up on the legitimacy of having a page of text links to other sites.
    An information page, of sorts.
Apparently, it's ok to text link to someone's homepage, opposed to a sub page.
Is this disputed? Apart from a webmaster not wanting it?
SEO values must rise with information sites linking to your site, right?

I was thinking of making one of these information pages and was wondering if it was more hassle than it's worth?
Not looking for legal advice, but rather, public information.
    Thanks guys

if you're creating a site full of outgoing links, you must question what value your site has to the average visitor..

However if you have a unique, constantly updated site with loads of fresh content, and the links are there to simply enhance/back up the article, then there's nothing wrong with that.

From an SEO point of view, links to homepage are good, but links to subpages are equally as good, if not more valuable. This is called 'deep linking' which helps strengthen your site's overall SEO as opposed to just the homepage.

If you have 1000 links to the homepage, but your site has 10000 different pages/articles on it, then google will question why the rest of your site is not receiving any link love, as that looks unnatural and suspicious.

But trying to predict SEO outcomes is like trying to predict lottery numbers.. SEO is becoming increasingly more difficult to master and what i've said above could become obsolete tomorrow :p

'Information Pages' as you put it, can be either very helpful (such as the stickied threads on boards.ie with loads of outgoing links to useful sites etc...) or they can be just spammy pages with loads of outgoing links, surrounded by ads. So provided you stay away from the spammy type pages, you'll be grand ;)
