Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well if your Windows firewall is off and VNC installed and running properly that must be your router. Most likely your port redirection, or port forwarding, and certainly not NAT, this is something else, has been badly configured.

On those netopia routers you need to add the port forwarding in QoS.

Set router to advance mode then go to -> Configure ->Advanced ->QoS. And Add your Custom flow.

    ok, big problems here.

i've looked up a fair few pages, including:

    http://www.allthingsmarked.com/2006/08/17/how-to-set-up-a-windows-ssh-server-for-vnc-tunneling/
    http://www.vnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2004-January/042758.html
    http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000842.htm
    http://faq.gotomyvnc.com/fom-serve/cache/133.html
    http://www.gotomyvnc.com/

i have a laptop at home, on a wireless lan from eircom, using a netopia wireless router.
i turned off my firewall, i installed realvnc listner and server.
i enabled nat for vnc and pointed it at my laptop.
i enabled ip passthough and again pointed it at my laptop, whcih should render the previous step unnecessary

then i went to gotomyvnc.com and ran the check. the first time it actually seemed to work and the checker spotted open tcp vnc ports on my ip range.

but i couldnt connect to vnc using a listner.

so i went and restarted my router.
now the checker cant find any vnc servers on my ip, and i still cant connect using a listener.

    so im out of idea's
    anyone?

    http://www.logmein.com Enjoy

By the looks of his sig, it's not an MCSE XP, it's an MCSE XP/2003/Messaging, meaning he passed the XP exam for the desktop elective, and the 2003 & Exchange exams for the server electives/requirements (as opposed to 2K or Vista for desktop, or 2000 for the servers). Looks like you need to brush up on your Microsoft certification knowledge.

Thanks for the insulting my knowledge. I have more MCP that you would ever dream about.
Still a MCSE XP still does not exist and the title should not be used like that, it does not comply with MCP guidelines.

    SIGPO - Notify

By definition guidelines are not mandatory.

Last thread was locked... Im a professional in the sense i do it for a living.. i have never bothered with getting certified though. I recently upgraded Bono's hotel from an old server 2000/exchange box to SBS 2003. That was not much fun, i did not get to bed till almost 4am.

Anyway getting back on topic, slemons someone posted logmein.com... just use that as its easier to set up.
Otherwise you will need a static IP address or a dynamicdns account to give you a static address. Then just forward port 5900 to the IP of your PC. Its pretty straight forward.

    That was totally unprofessional.

If you refer to yourself as a "professional" on this forum again I will be very tempted to ban you.
