zinc roofing..

    alrite, doin a project for college, putting a zinc finish on roof. question is, what does it go on? straight on to ply,osb? or is there a vapour barrier directly under it????

    Structurally, Zinc goes on to narrow boards (like flooring), these are not laid tight to each other as air must pass through. They are 3-5mm apart. These boards are fixed to battons or rafters and a ventilation space is maintained under the boards, again for air passage.

    There is often a vapour control layer and a breather membrane install, but at the insulation, not the zinc. Some systems operate without the cavity using a special membrane and support.
    Check out a major supplier for CAD details. Make sure to use european one, and go to a local site as close to ireland as possible, (so if not ireland, the UK). This is because detailing in different climates may differ.
