Tax relief on charity donations

Mods please move if this isn't in the appropriate forum - I couldn't see a tax forum.

I'd like to donate a chunk to Medecins Sans Frontieres, and understand that if you donate above a certain amount (€250? €400?) to one of a specific list of charities, you can claim it off your tax if self-employed.

Where do I find this list? Is MSF on it? How much is the tax-claimable donation figure?

As far as i know its E250 as i pay it to the CofI sustentation fund - i'll ask the rector at the weekend since he seems to be up on tax matters.
I know that if paye workers pay over E250 it benefits the charity snce its the charity itself that gets the tax releif. In self-employed cases its different since the customer benefits.

Handy rector to have! But chances are he'll only saith unto you: "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's."

What I can't find is the actual list of charities. On their website, MSF only lists an *English* charity number, which is presumably neither good to man nor to beast.

They're not on it, as far as I can see.
Contact MSF and the Revenue Commissioners and ask?

(MSF don't seem to have an international donation option... kind of ironic, no?)

    Ohh, so annoying!

Thanks for the information, though, Karoma.
