    Hi

I'm looking into doing a nice roadtrip and driving overland from either Dublin or London to Australia. I'd be doing this in around 18 months to 2 years from now. I'm starting my research into it and some questions came to mind.

-- Is there an insurance company who would provide me with cover for 4 months of the year. I would imagine it would take that long to do this trip.

-- How much money do you think something like this would need ?

-- Can anyone recommend a car to undertake this ? Would I be better off going with a jeep?

-- Do you think it would be dangerous driving through Pakistan and Iran ?

I know I posted in another forum but these questions are relevant to the motors forum.

You'd have to ring around, i recon it would cost a fortune for cover in non-eu countries

A Car, Maintenence costs (You'd need at least 1 service along the way)
budget around 1500 euro for Diesel. 2500 if your taking a Jeep.

Another 400 for Visas and the Like

Ferries too .. I'd say your looking at the bones of 6 - 7 thousand euro for transport alone.

Parts of it at through mountains and stuff, so a 4x4 at least and definetly Diesel.

    Yes

Excellent, thanks for those answers. I don't know if anyone on this forum has ever done something like this. I have seen ozbus, but I'd like to do it on my own. Im actually moving to australia with some of my stuff.

It's been done before by a few guys in a BMW 316i about 3-4 years ago.

All the details about visas and what not are in that website. I would love to do such a trip myself, but money and time aren't on my side at the moment.
