Need help, laptop makes funny noises when plugged into external speakers

Hi, ive had this problem since i bought my laptop (Advent 7106) last year. I brought it back, but they didnt seem to fix it. The chip is the conexant AC 97. Ive reinstalled windows but to no avail. The problem is when plugged into a PA or any external speakers, it makes beepy and whirly noises!! Very annoying for public use. Any ideas?

Try it without the power cable to the laptop.. see if that helps.. mine does that if i have it plugged in when i am connected to the TV..

May need better isolation on your cables

Tryed it running on battery, but its exactly the same. Have also tried it with different speakers and cables.

Hmmmm... Does it happen when you use just have headphones in?

Nope, any sort of heaphones, speakers, PA system.

Sounds a lot like an isolation issue. Do you always use the same jack.. i wonder if you could get a filter on it, or try a USB set of audio outputs just to figure out if its the chip or the jack

I bought a USB dongle sound card for it, but its still the same

Which USB card did you get? DId you disable the original soundcard when you attached the USB one???

Might it be feedback from an overly sensitive built in microphone?

I tried mutting everything, (it doesnt have a mike) but the noise is still there
