    Meteor/Meteor store...

    Stole my phone the feckers

I got a new phone a few years back around Christmas time and broke the screen about a week later (It was my fault)

So I left it in to be repaired and was told I would have to pay (fine). They initially said it would take 2 weeks. I called them up and they said it would be another week.

This went on for about 2 months until the day I called them and they said they had no record of me and asked me to come in with the receipt.

So I did and they said they couldn't find any record, so I asked for a replacment phone, as they had lost mine. Cue lots more avoidance on their part until I just gave up, I had a new phone at this stage anyway.

Moved to o2 and been happy with them ever since, also this was when Meteor were pretty new, I remember walking up and down O' Connell St struggling to get more than 1 bar of signal.

Hey in a couple of months having any job is going to be a luxury. Let's see if customer service standards go up then.

Went to the chemists in oranmore shopping centre to pick up a prescription for someone that i was told would cost around 50 euros.

Left and had a look around the shopping centre and when i came back to pick it i wasnt really paying attention and only when i was home i had a look at the receipt to find out that it wasnt the same drug brand that was on the prescription and it was 67 euros!

Brought it back the next day to get my money back, turned out that they had the same brand that was on the prescription for 55 euros but just chose to push the more expensive brand on me.

They did swap the item and refund, but they're still arseholes.

I'd heard this when it happened alright. Isaac was a potential client of mine when I was in advertising and then suddenly all 3 of his restaurants went *poof* into thin air.

I feel sorry for Darina cos me Mum used to make her 'Doreen's fudge' from one of her books.

I heard the very same rumour soon after the whole story broke.

That's all it is, a rumour.

The case as it has heard is a matter of public record and criminal conviction. Tim Allen = bad, m'kay? His conviction stands.

I'm not a mod of boards, but I don't think it would be in the best interest if any viral-whispering damage-limitation campaign is repeated here.

I agree. Hence I didn't post the rumours.

Tesco - Oh god where do I start!! Let's see, first of all the premises in Sligo is more reminiscent of a factory than a supermarket. It is awful, and is in dire need of a makeover. The staff are quite rude and need to take lessons from their colleagues in Carrick on Shannon. There is something very detestable about Tesco branded foods. Their overall choice is quite limited compared to Dunnes Stores (who are light years ahead in my humble opinion)

After moving to NZ I won't complain about Tesco again. In fact, my OH and I have reminisced recently about going to Tesco Ballybrack for our food shopping. That's not even a good tesco. The supermarket we shop in here is called pak n save and it's awful. As you can tell from the name it's super no frills and you pack things yourself and save. Everything is fecked on the shelves, the shop it's always packed full of people in bare feet with two trollies the staff look terrified when you ask them anything and the selection of food is awful so you always come home not being able to get a few things on your list (I mean basic things). Also, which I find the worst, sparrows LIVE in the supermarket. They fly around and eat scraps and stuff. Unfortunately my OH is a poor student and it really is a lot lot cheaper than the nice supermarket so I can't refuse to shop there - but I do moan about it.

Other companies I have boycotted are:

Ryanair - after a bad experience we just stopped flying with them. Again, I guiltily miss them as cheap flights here are not really cheap in comparison to Europe and we could do with a ryanair for some competition.

Irish Ferries - Actually paid more before to sail with stena line because of what happened with their staff a few years ago.

People can still give good service on crappy minimum wage jobs. In cases like this, it's usually bad management and a lack of decent training that results in bad service. :)

I used to love ballymaloe relish
But since the alleged child porn with Mr Allen I havent bought it
I'm not even sure if has anything to do with it but just incase he is getting any of the profits I avoid buying the stuff

I might be crazy about this so if anyone can put my mind at ease its appreciated, so I can eat the stuff again

Im the exact same - havent touched anything from Ballymaloe since then.

My other pet hate is Accessorize/Monsoon. Bought a pair of flip flops a few weeks ago for the hols. Picked a pair off the rack it had the price in sterling and euro (cant remeber what they were in sterling but i paid 12 yo yo for em) anyways i took them on and realised i had picked up the wrong size so i went back the next day and got the right ones. in the space of 24 hrs they had put the price up by 8 euro!!!!!!!!! they wanted me to pay the difference - asked for the manager and told her to shag off, and i enquired as to why all the prices had gone up not even the manager could tell me all i got was "we dont control the pricing" !!!!!!!

She sounded like "computer says noooooooooo" I'll never go back there

While they aren't going to get many return customers with that attitude, it is your fault for picking up the wrong size. Telling one of the staff to "shag off" probably didn't help your case much either.

Well i know it was my fault i picked the wrong size up - i just see why they expected me to pay the extra €8. I had the reciept and the tags on the flip flops and both showed that i paid €12 Euro when i bought them.

And i didnt actually tell her to "shag off". I stated that I see no reason why I should pay €20 today for an item I paid €12 for yesterday. This lady didnt even try to offer me an explanation she just stood there staring blankly at me and shrugged / sighed.

Yeah, but you wouldn't complain if you'd gone back the next day and the price had been reduced by 8 euro. You wouldn't offer to pay the price you paid for them the previous day, you'd pay the lower price. Yeah, maybe an explanation of sorts would have been nice, but prices are increased all the time.

You didn't pay the extra money which a lot of people would not have done, and that's a good way to be, but really I can't understand why you expected to be able to pay the lower price.

Oh my God, I'll never forget Pak n Save - or in my best NZ accent, Pik n Sive :D

The amount of poeple shopping in their bare feet was hilarious. And we think pyjamas are bad!! :p Well you can't argue that it's not cheap ...! It was literally a warehouse.

Halifax - Bunch of incompetent morons, at all levels.

Nokia - built to last a year, count yourself lucky if yours is longer lasting

Coffee shop/newsagents in Balsbridge - ignorant staff, over-priced drinks

Cornerhouse Grill - disgusting food, served gone-off coleslaw and couldnt move my chair once seated (too overcrowded)

  • Registered Users Posts: 817 ✭✭✭Burial

I agree with the nokia's thing. Mine only lasted about a month before I wanted to throw it against a wall. Not to mention the battery dies SO quickly...

Places I have boycotted after giving them a fair chance:

Fuji Film in Dun Laoghaire- effed up two roles of hoiday pics and wouldn't give me any compensation- sent my Gran in who came back with a bag of instant cameras and a triumphant look on her face. Gave them another shot and they tgave me the wrong pricing for photographs, ended up having to pay double...

Boots Galway- rude staff who fling your purchases into the paper bags without making any eye contact. Was overcharged too many times in there. And photo problems. Again.

Bodega Dun Laoghaire- terrible service for their food section, they ignore their customers unbelievably. A gentleman who was there at the same time as me had tostand up and wave his hands over his head to get attention. And when getting drinks they somehow managed to get vanilla syrup in my pint of Becks. A flavour I will never forget. Bleh.

Nestor's Super Valu, Fr. Griffin Road, Galway.

Last year during the cryptosporidium (shyte in the water) problem, the Council announced that they would subsidise 5L bottles of Galway mineral water, providing a second bottle free of charge for each one a customer purchase. This particular supermarket raised the price of this water by 40c a bottle the day after this announcement was made
