I dont suppose you kept/have a contact telephone number or email address for theHut, that you used successfully. Ive filled out their online form and sent a few emails about a missing order, but with NO acknowledgement. It's very infuriating.

    thanks.

I recently had eyelash extensions applied by a woman working under 'mink eyelashes extensions' in belcarra in castlebar. I arrived to a fairly dingy house but didn't pass too much heed until I was provided with the worst customer service I have ever experienced. This woman's sister applies lashes in the same room and the pair went out for a smoke five times in the three hours I was there and came back working on my lashes absolutely reeking. Kept telling me about my '****ty' lashes, worst lashes she's worked on in months even though I have long healthy ones! Her sister and herself then proceeded to have a good gossip about clients friends family etc when the sisters client had left. Please do not put yourself through this horrific experience!

I to have visited 'mink eyelash extensions' and I am just wondering what state your mind was in when you were there as you seem to have a great imagination that looks like it is working overtime. I found this modern new house very comfortable and inviting and as for the eyelash room it was very well equipped and very comforting. Both girls were very polite and never once did I hear them gossip about other people. As for the eyelash extensions I was very impressed with mine and I found the professional of both girls top class. You have had you say but I also hope people take time to read my post as I have no problem putting my real name to my account, not like you.

Maybe they changed their work practices in the 6 months since the original complaint was posted here and your registering now to defend them?

Teagwee - graciefacey made her complaint on the 5th August 2012. My 1st visit to 'mink eyelash extensions was 22nd March 2012 and I have been a regular customer since and in all my visits I have found both girls very professional and the premises top class. I believe I am allowed to voice my opinion the same as anyone else and yes if I am a satisfied customer then I will defend them just as much as you seem to want to ruin them.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again I must say I have the decency to use my full and proper name and you are using an alias.

The site specifically recommends NOT using a real name, as boards is meant to be anonymous for the most part. Plus, I can 100% guarantee that you work for the company in question, making your alias false, also. :D

It's not often I would recommend any branch of Dunnes for anything, but Donaghmede's Dunnes is the exception, the clothing section. It's the one and only Dunnes I've been into where the staff were friendly, polite, helpful and chatty, but not overbearingly so. Top marks to them. They made a stressful time (buying a dress for a funeral) somewhat more bearable. :)

I've never visited this business and have no interest in either ruining or supporting the proprietors. However, your vehemence and your single-minded approach in their defense counts more against them for me than even Graciefacey's post - who I don't know either, I hasten to add, but at least she's been here for a while and has 311 posts on a variety of other topics.
Sometimes, you're better to let the hair sit, as they say  because you dragging up this issue after 6 months has actually made things worse for your friends.

@Veronica Sheridan - when someone registers on Boards and their first posts are of the nature of yours, it raises suspicions about their motives.

I'm going to leave your posts and not delete them, as I think your posts and other posters' replies cancel each other out

Went into Celtic Interiors in Douglas Cork looking to make an appointment for kitchen design. Was in over a month ago on a Saturday and the guy took my number saying he will get someone to call me on Monday! This is a company that apparently prides themselves on customer service and here I am waiting over a month for a call! Their loss as I have taken my 15k elsewhere!

Avoid O Connell brothers batteries on the marina like the plague! Awful customer service.

Thumbs up to Dwyers Electircal for patience and knowledge when picking our kitchen appliances!

Local dry cleaner - girl who owns it, had chats with over the years. Always got on well...

Anyway have quite expensive Karen Millen dress that I got mascara on, and it says 'specialist dry clean'....go down with dress, and say 'can you clean this'. She looks at me and says don't like doing Karen Millen and then, 'what are you here for'....it's a dry cleaners and I want a dress cleaned. Duh? I can only figure she was having a bad day! Anyway I took my dress and left!

    TRying to support local industry!

But would you rather she took the dress and made a mess of it. Bring it to a specialist like the label said. Trust me, Karen Millen dresses are not that difficult to dryclean.

Recently had an issue with THT.ie - Town Hall Theatre
They got my dates wrong so when I went to pick tickets up they were already expired. I had to purchase new tickets and they got the numbers wrong and charged me for an extra ticket.

However, when I mailed the box office manager about these mistakes she refunded me for the second group purchase so I wouldn't be out of pocket.
She also gave me a voucher to use for our next visit.

Everyone can mess up but not everyone will man up and sort it out.
Fair play to the box office manager at THT.

I am constantly perplexed and frustrated by the poor customer service that seems to characterise many Irish businesses. In my experience of late, many businesses are very casual (to put it mildly) in the way they fail to follow up on customer service or complaints.

In recent weeks, I made an appointment for a Munster Joinery rep to call to my house and give a quotation for a new door (which we would have liked to get fitted before the winter was out). The rep didn't turn up on the day. Four weeks, two phone calls, and one email later they finally got back to us, so I suppose they are not the worst.

The same could not be said of the guy who did our BER rating in the summer of 2010. The rating seemed puzzlingly low, and I queried aspects of it over several phone conversations, as it seemed he had applied some 'default' values instead of the actual thermal values of wall insulation, etc. He requested me to send him information on our SEAI-approved stove, and some other information about the house, which we did. We haven't heard from him since. With two small children taking up all our surplus time and energy, trying to chase up unfinished business with people is especially trying.

More recently, the Revenue Commissioners have been less than helpful in dealing with an urgent query I had, which could not be dealt with through their phone or online service. I was referred to four different sections of the Department, was promised I would be called back although I wasn't, and twice had to wait five minutes through all the options on the phone in order to speak to a Customer Service Representative, only to be told to send my query by email. To this I got a standard reply telling me they will endeavour to respond to my query within 30 days.

And now to think of some good customer service I have experienced, to counter all this negativity... ... ...

Two thumbs up from me :D

Ordered a load of stuff for my kitchen, mainly crockery, pyrex dishes and the like. Ordered on Sunday, arrived on Thursday. Every single thing wrapped perfectly and nothing broken which I was delighted about.

A lot of the stuff I bought is from a range that Woodies also run and I got it cheaper in Heatons.

    Highly recommend them :D

Agree so much with what you said. I love Heatons for both their homeware and their clothes. The quality is great and the price even better. And to top it off, have always found the staff lovely and friendly.

    Big praise guys :)

    Two positive stories.

Think Bike Rathmines – I went in to get my bike serviced on Friday. The guy had a look at it and said it didn’t need a full service, just an oiling and that the tyres needed to be pumped to the correct pressure. He did it while I was there and didn’t charge me. I’ll definitely be back.

Lifestyle Sports Stephens Green Centre – I needed to return an item I bought. Spoke to the manager, gave him the item and receipt and he gave me my money back. The whole thing took about 60 seconds. Sometimes it can be like getting blood from a stone doing a return in a shop but not here. Excellent service and I’ll be back in the future.

    Topaz Fuel Card Service

Sent invoice telling me account would be debited on the 7th. Debited account on the 3rd. No funds. DD bounced. Incurred DD return fee. One month later...they have charged me thirty euro for a bounced DD. I know banks do this but didnt think companies did.:(

Positive sotry - Nordmende customer service (I think KAL in Ireland) - bought new kitchen appliances before Christmas - oven had faulty clock; microwave light didn't work. Went online, found Nordmende website, logged customer report. Got phone call the next day; arranged for engineer to come out to view the appliances. Couldn't be fixed - new appliances delivered the following week.

No messing. No fuss. Straightforward to deal with!

Recently I ordered boots for my girls from Next. When they arrived, one pair was the wrong size so I took them back to their store in Cork. They re-ordered them but when they arrived to our home, they were too big so we had to go back with them again! The size below that wasn't in stock in the store when we went back so the girl ordered them again and again requested delivery to our home.

I moaned a bit when I got the first pair and the girl in the shop said she couldn't do anything but gave me their customer service's details so I emailed them. I really thought that they would give me some line about how sorry they were but people make mistakes etc. but no, a lovely lady from Scotland rang me a few days later, said she was investigating my complaint, they were glad I took the time to contact them and she was sending me a €25 gift voucher for the inconvenience. I was very happy with that!!

    Thank you NEXT! :D

GAMESTOP the one right accross the road from the illac centre
bought 3 used games ( all games have to be up to a standerd and are tested when traded in to make sure they work )
2 for meself and 1 for my cousin who was just turning 10
anyway 2 for meself worked great
his one was broken , had no scratchs on it so i couldnt see the problem
brought it back into the store
told the person at the counter this disc doesnt work can i get another copy of it

now with preowned games in gamestop if you return the item within a certain time and the item is faulty , its their policy to give you a new used copy of the game or you can get a refund

he opened the case had a look at the disc , and gave me one of those smart looks and said theirs nothing wrong with this disc why dont you just tell me you what your money back.....
i couldnt believe it , i was in shock , im not the type of person to be quiet when i get shocked i lash out :/ but i kept my cool and calmly said to him " i already told you i just want a different copy" he start saying theirs nothing wrong with it nearly shouting , people were looking at me as if i done something wrong or as if i was trying to scam?
i shouted at him " TURN ON THE <SNIP>GAME THEN "
again him acting all snobby and he said "i will" , 2 minutes later he starts the game up on the screen ( i think it was against store policy to even test the game in front of the public to see if it worked )
    what happens next? game freezes
he takes it out and comes over to me , i dont say anything , he says its probably just that xbox thats broke il just give you a different copy and take this one in,

i lost the plot now, im sorry but if someone cant admit when their wrong and act all snobby about it infront of the people even though he was proven wrong infront of at least 4 people in line who all just laughed at him over it, i ended up saying get me your manager
he said manager was not in you can ring our department for a complaint, i asked when will the manager be in , told me not until tomorrow , i said ok grand give me the game il be in tomorrow,

went back in the next day , asked for the manager, was a girl ,
complained about the person and told her everything that had happened and that he tried to embarrass me infront of the whole store but ended up backfiring on him,
    she couldnt believe it

gave her the copy she gave me a new copy of the game ( BRAND NEW and sealed) and said she will get right on about the complaint

she was embarrassed about the whole thing
i go back to shop a few weeks later just looking around for any bargins, and the fella who was their who gave me awlful grief is gone, whenever im in that store now i check if hes their, cause if he is i wont deal with him,

i think he got let go , i hope he did, never had someone insult me like that as if i was trying to scam? he opened his big mouth acted like his word was gods and lost a job over it , im delighted that he did because since then the staff in their have been nothing but brilliant

people who have bad behaviour like this and who treat customers like crap
dont deserve a job full stop, give it too one of the many people who are unemployed who would happily put a smile on for any customer for a job

  • Registered Users Posts: 298 ✭✭IrishExpat

I've had 3 or 4 particularly bad customer service experiences, and every one of them has happened in Spain.

The general attitude is that you are a problem, and not a customer who would gladly pay money into your business.

Bringing a very simple brochure on a USB along to a print shop. The printer was not equipped for the job, in terms of the size of the paper and/or ink needed, and the response was to shout quite aggressively (in front of other customers), about 'this foreigner' making life difficult for him.

Another occasion, upon walking into a completely empty café and asking for a coffee to go. The response was much the same - the waitress wasn't too pleased to have to get up and serve a customer, and they hadn't the paper cups. The response was again to shout and swear.

Just two that come to mind, it was a frequent occurrence, and not just for myself.

@2bad2bmad it's a shame the manager accommodated you like that, because you don't deserve it after swearing and shouting at a member of staff, who even if they didnt have the right attitude about it were only following store policy.

Sorry, but where exactly did he say that he swore and shouted at the salesperson?

"Losing the plot", ime, doesn't automatically mean swearing and shouting.

EDIT; missed the " TURN ON THE <SNIP>GAME THEN " remark. Sorry.

I agree; once either party starts swearing and shouting then they are the wrong.

amm maybe read the op again, particularly the part where he said he shouted and swore??

    first off
    ITS NOT STORE POLICY
dont know where you got that from so read my post again mate.....

i clearly outlined saying its not store policy
i said "its store policy for used games , if they are broken upon purchase or faulty in anyway i can get a the same game again but a different copy or a refund" i clearly said in a very polite manner to the person that the game disc was faulty can i have a new one please
    i always use good manners

but if some <SNIP> (excuse my french) trys to embarress me in front of the public when im been very polite and ok about the game being faulty and has the cheek to actually test the thing in the public view WHICH IS AGAINST STORE POLICY( I CHECKED ) deserves to have at least 1 curse word said about him
hes lucky thats all i did ,

he didnt just have a bad attitude , he was rude, snobby , made accusations against me trying to get money back for a game i apparently broke( was a used game so i have 28days to get a different copy of the game ) and on top of all that tried to humiliate me infront of people , the store manager most likely saw all this on cctv and obviously knew he was in the wrong and he lost a job over it , and im delighted he did, and hopefully i run into more people like this who generally treat people badly because il give them the same treatment and make sure i put a complaint in , in person to a manager in the store
and btw mate , i never asked for a sealed copy of the game , i asked for a used one of the manager , she was just embarressed for her store and gave me a new one which i accepted if you have a problem with that keep it to yourself because this part here aint for debates its for experiences

he didnt deserve his position, he started all of it, when i was been polite , their is no way anyone and i mean ANYONE should let snobby pricks who think their the boss just because their behind a counter get away with treatment like this

my girlfriend had a similar experience with this before
she was in town doing christmas shopping
went into boots (normally everyone in their are top notch people, always friendly) and yet their always has to be one bad apple... was most likely a temp stepping in for the christmas holidays
was a young fella, my gf (her story i was not their for the start of it) asked the person where is ....cream (some cream for a tattoo she got to help it heal cant remember it) fella at the start is all happy to show her to a cream and begins to walk off after my gf said thanks , she called him back straight away and said sorry i also forgot were is the ..... (some other girly stuff :/ ) fella told her their are other customers so wait in line for help , she told me he said that in a very rude manner
my gf can take stuff on the chin and move on she aint sensitive but the store was basicly empty and no one asked him a question before or after my gf called him back , he just went into the back room ? probably for lunch
so i decided ok il head in now see if he will apologise
again , i dont like rudeness especially if your working in a top store , cause if you have terrible customer service and dont like dealing with the public then your in the wrong job
dont get me wrong i worked in retail and sometimes you feel like punching the guy out but all ya can do is help them , and move on
so we went back into the shop , i went over to the fella, i said "sorry mate not too long ago you told my girlfriend to wait in line when she was asking you a question, and you just walked off into the back room" he just looked at me and said "so?"
i mean all he had to do was say sorry , and he replied by getting smart with me? i just looked at him and said "ok" walked over to the counter his boss was their , i asked for manager and got the assistant manager was their , told her what happened , now to be fair with the chap it was christmas and he was probably saving money, i didnt mention to much about it to the assistant manager i just said he seemed abit rude to my girlfriend and told her all i want is him to apologise to my gf and we can move on ( even though he was rude altogether ) she went over to him and talked to him quietly infront of us so no other customers would hear , he just told the manager to f off as well as myself and the missus and he stormed out
at least that was one less muppet working in retail were they do not belong
if you havnt got patience then theirs no point working retail because i know how customers can be, hell im sure theirs times ive been one of those type of customers that you'd like to punch but still customer service is what makes or breaks a business , if teenagers cant handle it then why bother

So you shout at someone to tell them to turn the <SNIP> game on, which he does, and you get all high horsey??

You lost whatever credibility you had when you shouted at the guy.

I'd have no problem asking you to leave the store if it happened where I work.
