I have to say Sky were brilliant today, i called to say i needed to reduce my bills for a while. They reduced my bill by nearly half for the next 6 mnths without reducing my package. Very impressed with the way it was handled as well. :)

I've always found this with Sky, anytime I've had to call them my query has been dealt with quickly and efficiently, the other tv companies in this country could do with taking a leaf from there book when it comes to customer service.

I'm beginning to think there's a problem with the fridges/freezers in Dunnes...

Bought a chicken yesterday for dinner today. Got it home, put it straight in the fridge. Took it out yesterday evening to wash, and put the chicken in salt and lemon as usual.

The smell from the chicken was UNREAL!! It was absolutely rotten. The sell-by date was today. Unfortunately, I'd lost the receipt.

To be fair, the manager took the chicken without demur, and I was able to get another. But I'll be keeping a very close eye on the fridges now.

I just wouldn't shop there anymore if I were you, seems you've had some awful problems with Dunnes in the past too.

I know. They're pretty awful it's true. But it's the nearest store to where I live. And I don't like Tesco's...

there's a display above the fridges to tell you the current temp, I got into the habit of looking at them from work,

freezers should be at or colder than -19 and fridges colder than 5. you shouldn't have to check this but I've often been in dunnes and I can even see that they have silenced the alarm to tell them the freezer temp is unstable.

I bought chicken in Lidl with 6 days left to go on the date, absolutely rotten smell, brought it straight back, got replacement with 8 days to go, same thing. Brought that back too, got money back. Bought chicken from butcher that does deals and delivers - same thing. Don't know how they didn't get the smell - you could get it through the sealed plastic bag. It's put me off buying chicken.

Seriously- I've given up on buying fresh meat in Supermarkets after issues in Supervalu, Dunnes, Tesco and Lidl. Craft butchers may cost a bit more- but by god, you get what you pay for.

A true thing that. Since moving here, I've been spoiled rotten! I don't have to go far to get good meat. But Dunnes did do some nice chickens. No more - Off to the English Market now to get something decent!

A big thumbs up to Tilda Rice. Bit of an odd one maybe, but bear with me! :)

I'm a huge fan of their Steamed Microwave Rice. I love rice and have been brought up on it, but don't always fancy the rat race of washing and cooking it! Their coconut range is brilliant and goes really well with curries. I normally raid Asda for stocks when I go home, but recently found that Amazon sell it. Happy days!

Now - Amazon no longer stock it. None of the stores here stock it. I'm in the ****!!

Got on to Tilda via their FB page. Very helpful, but they no longer sell the coconut range in Ireland. But they sent me some samples of the range they do sell here with a really nice little note.

Still no coconut rice, but great customer service!

Clarion Hotels Sligo - always very helpful
Eircom - mother of god grant me patience to deal with things I cannot change.
    Sky - Good quality CS.
Amazon - again top class especially when dealing with merchants.
Oxigen - don't get me started - there is no reasoning with them.

But for all these goods and bad recommendations its all down to who you get on the other end of the line and how you talk to them. That drives the level of effort they are going to give you.

Wow change provider because their systems were down today. I hope you realise that every company can have systems down. Now if it was constant failures, you might have a point...,

U must work for Vodafone When your getting so nitty

The usual response when somebody defends a company.

If you think the customer service from Vodafone is bad you should read the many threads about most of the other providers.

puma90 - Just because someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't mean that they work for the company in question. Boards allows opposing opinions. Please respect that. You can argue the poster, but not the poster.

Not bein able to get through to a customer service line for an hour is terrible customer service never mind a day.you guys shouldn't be judging them based on how bad another companies customer service is..

puma90 - As a new poster, please take the time to read the forum charter and become familiar with the Consumer Issues forum before posting again

Mate you popping in here when your taking a break from chat roulette to tell someone read the charter is a bit weak

Where do you get off tellin me what to do?? I can post whatever and whenever I want. I had an opinion on something that I experienced today, just because it didnt happen to you doesnt mean im wrong. I didnt ask you to comment on my post. You have to much time on your hands

I don't think you understand how forums work. The charter is simply in place to give a simple guideline of manners and general attitude on various forums, namely Boards in this case.

Instead of taking shots at other posters, which will probably end up in them being deleted, why not give an outline of the problem you had with Vodafone and so on, instead of simply saying they took too long to answer the phone.

Had two contrasting customer service experiences today.

A big thumbs up to Aldi. Bought a pack of freezer bags a week or two ago. Opened them, only to find that the bottom of the bags were never sealed, so wouldn't hold anything. And of course, I have no receipt!. Called their Customer Service on the off-chance. The phone was answered promptly, and the operator who took my call very pleasant and helpful. Was given a slip no. and told to call into the nearest branch for replacement with fulsome apologies. Can't say fairer than that!

OTOH - Allianz have been a complete nightmare. I've been trying to insure my dog for weeks. They've lost information, didn't call back when promised, I've had to chase them every week, and they have generally been very unhelpful. After all the to-ing and fro-ing, they have given me a quote which is very expensive, and poor value for money. I'll discuss with my husband, but somehow I don't think Allianz will be getting our business. If I have this much trouble trying to give them money, God help me if we're unlucky enough to make a claim...

    Sky..
I just moved house so the sky engineer came over today to set it up. I was at work so my mum stayed at mine to wait for him. Anyways my mum mentioned to him that the volume buttons don't work on her remote control so he said he'll go back to hers after and fix it. :) (she only lives across the road.)

Paul- one of the counter staff at BOI Lucan- for going that extra mile when I was a bit of an idiot earlier. Much as I hate bankers- some of them do go the extra mile and make customer service a pleasant encounter at the branch.

    No Nonsense -

Put my premium up by €35 despite not having a claim. "Everyone's went up" is not a satisfactory answer!!
