Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Need a stand/riser for laptop DJing

    I DJ from a laptop (with a USB-based mixing console) but the surface I put them on at my regular gig is so low that I get a sore back from bending over to use the laptop & console.

    So I need some sort of simple stand/riser that's:

    * flat (or, if tilted, has a lip at the front to stop things falling off)
    * big enough to hold, say, 2 laptops side by side (the console is a little smaller than a laptop)
    * roughly 25-35cm high
    * preferably light (though I can leave it at the venue, so not such a big deal)
    * cheap!

    (I've looked at professional DJ laptop stands, but they're overkill for what I need. A cheap flightcase might do the trick though I suppose).

    If I was any good at carpentry I'd knock together a simple box myself. I suppose I could perhaps tape some empty shoeboxes together, but I'd like something a little more sturdy. :-)

    Anyone got any idea of something I could use (even if it was not designed for this purpose)?

    I'm guess I'm looking for something like this, but only about 2/3 as long.

    How about 2 of these and screw/stick a board across the top of the two if you need a shelf riser.

    I have one and its nice and sturdy - and cheap at 20 quid (15 for shipping). .. if your ordering it might be worthwhile asking on the board here if anyone needs one .. it wont cost any more on shipping .. I ment to .. but .. totally forgot !!!

    Thanks for the recommendation!

    Is it not a bit top-heavy with a laptop on it?
    Is there anything to secure the stand's feet to the surface it's on?
    Is it totally solid, or is there some bounce from it as you type on the laptop keyboard? (I would be applying a bit of pressure when hitting buttons on the console so don't want it to be "bouncy" if possible)

    hey Deevey, what Midi Controller are you using?
    <sorry for changing the topic!>

    Actually there is relatively little bounce, its adjustable anyhoo height-wise, obviously the higher you go the more bounce - I have it on the second highest setting - there isn't anything to secure it, but i'm sure you could knock something up with a few screws in the right place if you really felt it was needed. - I have on occasion used the Midi console on it instead without an issue.

    Oh and the controller is a kontrol-dj and mixer is a CM200 USB - dual soundcards built in it leaves me a load of knobs and faders free'd up for FX.
