Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think it's 4 or 5 years old. I could be wrong. Linux has come a loooong way in the mean-time though if it is that old.

If you want a red hat based distribution, grab fedora core 8.

    edit: link (3GB download)

Not sure about ipods tbh....but if it works like a normal usb memory stick then have a look for /dev/sd* .

Lad, unless you got some seriously old hardware there, upgrade to centOS or fedora, red hat 7.1 is older than fossils.

Just installed fedora 8 last night, works straight like a dream and compiz is nice too.

Unless the iPod is put into disk mode (in which case music transfered is not set up in the library), its not. The OP will need to find software to interface to it.

Get xubuntu. It will run on old hardware relatively quickly. Honestly, you're wasting your time with redhat 7.1.

A distro that old also won't have packages released for it any more. Also, you won't get security updates after the distro has been out 1-3 years. So there's probably lots of bugs that have been found that won't have been fixed for RH 7.1.

I would also say go for Fedora and see how you get on with it.

Not on 9 year old hardware IMO. Something lightweight and user friendly (ish) like xubuntu ftw.

Sorry, didn't see that he has very old software. Definitely don't try running F8 on something that old. Slower than watching paint dry (I know, I tried it before!).
