There are a few people here, professionals, alarm specialists, car detailer, etc, they regularly post here, you send them PM, you call them on their mobile phones, you leave voice mails and they don't call back or even answer your PM.
And if they were that freaking busy, that would mean they are making a hell of a cash, so they would be able to hire an assistant to take the calls and make the bookings. And if they were broke they would ask their wives to do the job. Not even smart.

Just stay away from those guys, they are just useless amateurs.

Perhaps they're afraid 70s Man will only want to pay them at 70s prices?

I feel I must take issue with this.

I am a professional who posts here. Your summation of me and all other professional posters here as useless amateurs is insulting and possibly even slanderous

mick.fr that has to be one of the most pointless rants I've read in a while. Anytime I've PM'd anyone I've gotten a timelly response and I'll always make it clear how appreciative I am that motor industry professionals are willing to preach to us clueless car users and abusers.
If you're not getting the answers you want, you mustn't be asking the right questions.

I object to the use of the word amateur as an insult (if I understand you correctly). To me an amateur is a person who does a job for the love of it and not for financial reward.

While there are some chancers no doubt there are plenty of people who are in the motor trade who are regular posters here be they technicians(they're not mechanics anymore) or salesmen or whatever and they certainly know what they're talking about and the OP's statement is I would suggest unrepresentative of the reality.

mick, since you've tarred them all with the one brush, will you untar the potentially good ones by telling us who won't return your calls?

If my memory serves correctly there are no qualified auto mechanics who post on this forum?

I wanted to point out that a few guys here, never meant everybody read my post, never returned PM and even phone calls. One of the guy that do specialize in alarms, I called him 3 times. I left 1 voice mail. Sent PM, never got back to me. And the guy is still posting here.

That is simply funcking annoying and frustrating. Been a couple of years here and this is not the first time I come across people who do not seem to want to work. That is just so...mad. I don't understand. No wonder why there is so much Chinese/Polish/... in this country.

Aren't crosstownk and Mr.Diagnostic technicians by profession?(that doesn't necessarily mean they are qualified though)

They're here because the Irish won't do the jobs they're doing. If we didn't have them there would be a huge shortage of labour in the country.

But, you entitled the post "What's wrong with those professionals posting here?", not whats wrong with some professionals posting here.
If you have a problem with only one or two then why not say so?

If you want technical car advice then this forum is not the place to come to. This forum is grand if you want to complain about driving standards or the price of petrol, a place for car enthusiasts this place is not.

My advice Mick, find somewhere recommended to you by a trusted friend who knows well. I wouldnt walk in anywhere fresh off the street or off the internet with all the bluffers around. To be perfectly honest I wouldnt even trust my car with a main dealers in this country after hearing all the horror stories (and thats just the baleno never mind my skyline:eek:).

I presume you are French by your username. You are a nation to talk about not wanting to work. Your public service is on strike every second day.

Nobody is obliged to take on work from anybody. Especially if they suspect that person will be a pain in the a55.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,147 ✭✭✭E92

Well I assumed he was a Yank since he has a USDM E46 and since he calls them Bimmers instead of Beemers. Speaking of the French and not wanting to work, where else in the world can you retire at 50 and still get half your salary for the rest of your life a la the French train drivers?

If you are looking help i would suggest you try the Golden Pages. The reason you may not have gotten a response is because of a bad attitude and just looking at your post above it seems to suggest you have one or your looking to save a few quid..... i also think you may have done some long term damage by posting your negative comments above as well.

I'm speaking very generally here , very.

But in my experience people who send pm's or email enquiries into a business are a complete waste of time - I dont say that lightly.
Speaking from a motor trade sales point of view.
In the past 2 weeks......3 enquiries sent by email.
I've had someone wanting to trade-in a ROI reg'd 10 yr old Megane into a Northern Ireland dealership - ad had said Straight sale price only.
I've had someone wanting me to source a used Focus ST Automatic. (genuine)
A guy who couldnt get finance if he had the keys to the Bank of England.

Only my point of view of course.......

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,184 ✭✭✭Fey!

Speaking from personal experience on boards (not in the motors section, I hasten to add), I've answered dozens of PM's and given advice to do with my chosen profession (in which I am very well qualified and experienced), and from the PM's I've only ever gotten thanked twice for taking the time to answer, and in the fora I've gotten abuse from one or two individuals who feel that my entire profession are a bunch of ripoff merchants (their motor equivalent would be to call a garage expensive because the garage car is 40% mre expensive than their own GB registered car with no VAT/VRT paid, and they refuse point blank to pay the VAT/VRT and can't see why the garage can't sell at the same price). So now, I just can't be bothered responding to anyone, genuine or not.

What the above poster said. Maybe they couldn't understand you. Do you have much of an accent? I know a few French people and half of them talk throught their a$$.

    ...

x2,Its at the point where i wont bother answering pm's on certain forums as it seems no matter how much information or help you give a person there still not happy and come across as the biggest time wasters.
