Was thinking of hosteling in Aus/NZ. Anyone suggest a travel plan? Would it be better to start in Western Australia if you were going to hit NZ at some point?
    Thank You

it would make more sense to start in WA if you intend on doing it as well as the east coast, no point backtracking if it will cost you money. not sure what you're plan is for it but there is a place about halfway up called the ningaloo reef which is lilke the great barrier reef but you can actually walk to it from the shore (unlike the GBR which is about 30k offshore) and at certain times of the year you can dive with whale sharks! my advice is to do alot of the travelling at teh start coz you'll find that if you settle first and plan to travel later you won't have as much money saved as you think!!
here's a list of what i would consider must do's in oz:
    whitsundays
    fraser island
    great barrier reef
    uluru
    sydney opera house/harbour bridge
    mcg

if i was doing oz again from scratch and wanted to see the whole country I would start in Western Australia, do the west coast up to darwin, down the centre thro ayers rock to adelaide, then great ocean road to melbourne, across to tasmania for a week or so, back to melbourne, up to sydney and then up the east coast to cairns. Its effectively as S-shaped route. And you could cross to NZ while in melbourne, syd or cairns.
