recommend a good pub in town to take the girlfriend

    hey,

    heading out with the girlfriend tonight and we always are in two minds about where to go, anyone any ideas?

    You question is way too vague! What is good for one drinker may not be for another. For example my preference is for workman's type pubs with a dart board, card games, pint drinkers etc. but that may not be to everyone's taste.

    You'll need to be more specific! ;)

    well...you see we have different tastes too. maybe somewhere lively, not too crowded, has music but can still hear the conversation ya know. couples tend to get swamped by larged crowds ya know

    Any of the Porterhouses are cool, though they can get fairly lively at times.

    Porterhouse North, in Phibsboro is never jammed but good crowd. Then head down to McGowans for an aul dance after ;)

    Agreed about the Porterhouse in Fizzboro, however, since it's xmas time it was jammed last night.

    Here's another vote for the Porterhouse North. An excellent spot, FANTASTIC food.

    I eat and drink there all the time.
