Anyone hear anymore about this - http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,70131-1297212,00.html.

Just saw it on Sky there now. Details very sketchy at the moment, but you can see in the picture an aircraft crashed in the field, and looks to have burned out. The other plane made a safe landing in East Midlands Airport.

Ouch - I suppose we can only be thankful a larger aircraft wasn't involved.

Good to hear one aircraft got into East Mids, some good piloting involved there I would think.

Good piloting alright but whosever fault it was should have their driving licence taken off them to if not dead because if you can't fly in the air without hitting someone where there's feck all how can you justify driving a car where there would be lots more victims to crash into.

    errrr?

Usually in aviation accidents, "fault" is never ascertained

Clearly he has never been in a small plane let alone piloted one :D There is very little visibility to the front... none directly below you, none directly above you... so you can only see to both sides and a little in front. Also small planes do not have radar so unless you hear the air traffic controller warn over the radio... its very easy to understand how a collision can happen.. Its rare though as pilots are usually vigilant.

Flying is nothing like driving a car, i can not even understand how Keith186 could even compare them and suggest he lose is driving license.

"Both planes were privately owned on leisure flights and were not under air traffic control when they collided. Such procedure is normal for the size of plane, Mr Atkinson said."

That's in the article in the first post.

You would imagine they should have been exchaning positions with the information service, but as many know these services are not always used like they should be.
