    All, those of you on eircom DSL who have seen a slowdown of content stremed over YouTube - take heart, it should be fixed today!

    I learned from my very reliable sources that eircom brought up a new peering connection in NewYork last week and this has caused a routing issue for some US originating traffic into eircom's network. It seems that YouTube is among a number of networks that are now being announced via London and delivered back over New York (so called "trombone" effect).

    For those of you who know BGP - this is not always easy to spot when it happens, but it is relatively easy to fix. As they have spotted this now, it should certainly be fixed today.
