    Nobody loves the M3 :|

    I do,
I would have one of those to go shopping in..
Just to preserve the lotus Carlton :D

The lotus carlton is a lovely car, no match for an M3 but back in its day I bet it would!

Show me a Modern day M3 that would beat a 16 year old Lotus Carlton in a drag race.

    Not a hope.
    Might be more sophistacated
    Might be sleeker.
    But
No match for the good old Lotus Carlton.. :D

The Carlton looks like a '96 Primera with a big bodykit and a re.....eally nice engine!

Ah now come on! M3=420HP vs Carlton=370HP. Acceleration is slower than the beamer.

The Beamer is a 4litre v8 wth no turbo, therefore no turbo lag. Just NA beast! If the BMW is unrestricted it will go 178mph. Come on the BMW would piss on the carlton:p

Twin Turbos on the Carlton setup in such a way as to avoid Turbo Lag.
Lotus carlton figures are also factory standard. Imagine unrestricting that

    PLUS..!

Look at the difference in the Torque figures between both :D

Well ok ill hand it to you about the torgue figures:p
But seriously Bmw is 45 more HP and only 4kg's heavier. The m3 has a better power to weight ratio therefore it will go faster.

    Faster??
    M3 top Speed = 155
    Carlton = 176
How do you figure that out.
And go back to the torque
Torque = Bucketloads of Pulling Power. :D

It can be unrestricted though and will go faster all german cars are restricted to 155mph.
The engine roars up to 8300rpm. I cant see a less powerful car going faster than a bmw m3 when the weight difference is only 4kg.

Unrestrict the BM then you would have to unrestrict the Carlton
Result would be a forever trailing BMW :D

Is the carlton restricted? If unrestricted what speeds are we talking 180mph?:p

Resticted = Faster than an M3
Unrestricted = way faster than an M3 :D

I bet the m3 would toast the carlton up to 155mph:cool:

    Nope
Simply because the M3 would be running out of steam at the 140 or so mark whereas the Carlton would be still pulling like a Tank at that stage :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

Ah no you see the M3 is good for almost 180mph unrestrited so that means it would of course beat 16y/o antique!:p
    :D
