When I bought my 00' Ford Focus, I only recievd 1 key, so I went away and bought a second key. I rang the ford dealers to get the tcode so I could get the key cut, and they have told me that there are two tcodes for my car?

Just out of curiosity, why would there be two tcodes?

Not sure why there might be 2 Tcodes. I got a spare key cut a few months back. It's worth your while calling around different Ford dealers to get prices on getting them cut. I was quaoted anything from €170ish up to €250 from different Ford dealers. I think I got mine done in Rialto as it was the cheapest (about €180, compared to the price of €250+ I was quoted for Finglas). Getting the key cut is cheap enough and doesn't take long, but you need to leave the car with them for an hour as they have to code the key to your engine/computer with their software. I think the labour accounts for most of the cost there. Mine is a '00 Focus too and I wasn't asked about Tcodes at all. Just had to bring vehicle registration documentation with me for them to do the job.

I went to a locksmiths to get the key cut, and it turned out that the two tcodes that Ford gave me, are not for my car at all! He was able to generate a tcode for the key that I had so I was lucky there. If I lost the only key I had, I would have never got into my car again!!! He charged me €30 to cut the key, I now have to go to Fords to get the key chipped. It will only take 2 minutes but yet they'll keep the car for an hour! Theiving b******s!

I had a dummy key also (not chipped) but Ford told me they couldn't use it and would have to cut another and chip that?

There is a lot of bad info about keys in general, both on forums and from trade sources (dealers).

Today I coded just one key into a 2002 Ford Transit that had no keys.

It takes 15 mins to code a key into a 2000 focus if the master key is not available.

Is it not also true that a blank key can be coded in less than 5 minutes by the owner if the master is available or is that Mazda I'm thinking of?

You have to programme 2 new keys into a 2002 Transit when all keys are lost.Or have you discovered a new way of doing this ?
On some cars you are able to programme in a new key provided you have a master key and 1 slave key.Toyota Fiat older Fords you can use this system.

For the Ford Focus you can programme a new key yourself if you have TWO spares. This is a fact, I have done it.

If you only have one spare, you need to book the car in and get charged an hours labour.

Yes, I have. its actually quite simple.

That is just one of the many things I, along with others, have developed. Simple examples of things that are supposed to be impossible to do but myself and a few specialists can do would be -
VW immo box SKC extraction when no key is available. eg LT and transporter.
Late Bosch seedkey dash SKC extraction.
Immo bypass on most ecu's and BCU's/BSI's.
Transfer of immo data from various ECU's to used ECU's to avoid the cost of new units.
Ford in/out codes changed to timed access.
Virginise Toyota ECU's to enable coding of new key without a master.

Maybe I am way off the mark but it looks a bit odd that you come in with a username a bit like mine and question me in your first post!
If you are a member of the ALA ask the chairman if he knows anyone in Ireland that can do this type of work. My name is in my sig.

Sorry if i hurt your feelings.I was not taking a personal hit on you. I have never been able to programme one key into a Ford when all keys are lost.Always 2 keys and on the red chipped keys 3 keys have to be programmed. As for the ALA the least said the better.

Not at all, dont worry, I am a big boy now :)

I dont have any connection with ALA but the chairman is someone I have had dealings with.

As a professional locksmith do you not get involved with immo issues?
