Good flat shootin round very similar to .223 .I only know of one down around my area and he is tryin to sell it because the rounds are more expensive than the .223.

    why is this?

cos the case has a long neck making it easier to align the bullet for a perfect runout ie; its straight going into the rifling which enhances accuraccy..icon7.gif

thanks for that fox so would it be a better target round than say a 223.

thanks for that fox so would it be a better target round than say a 223.

remington introduced this cartridge in 1950 in the model 722,its an original design and not based on any other cartridge, its inherent accuracy is what made this cartridge famous and it set numerous records for the bench rest people, its varminting range is considered to be 250 yards, even further in calm conditions, also a pound of powder lasts a long time in the 222 with
vihtavuori 130 and 40 grain v max you will get about 300 shots depending
on your load which is not to be sneezed at when target shooting. many
fox shooters in northern ireland use the 222 and dont see a need to change to a 223...the only gain in a 223 would be buying one with a very fast twist so as to use the heavier bullets say 69 grain sierra matchkings
for example to take you out to 500 yards and further if you can dope the wind right..but for 200 yard terget shooting i would keep the 222.
