Where can i get newts for a garden pond ?

    I live n dublin and i have frogs in my garden pond, where can i get newts?

    All amphibians, including frogs and newts, are protected species as defined by the Wildlife Acts of 1976 and 2000, so you can't just remove them from the wild. If they found your pond under their own steam (which is highly unlikely, as they're pretty rare here) you'd be OK though :)

    Fire Bellied newts can be bought in pet shops im pretty sure. Theyre very small, Frogs might eat them:confused:

    When i was a child newts where common havent seen a newt for decades .Which is sad as they are lovely .

    I think that as they are protected you should leave them well alone rather than stealing them from the wild to place in your probably unsuitable habitat just because you want them. Get some goldfish.

    Newlands cross used to sell firebelly newts, and they are the same size as our native newts.

    Well if you want to view newts in the wild there’s
    millions of them on Vancouver Island.
