Testing Connection Speed on a Macbook

Anyone know what software you can use. Just got a 3 usb modem. Says its connecting at 36000 bps in Dublin City Centre which seems a bit 1996!

just test your connection on www.speedtest.net

...but use Firefox to do the test, not Safari.

Safari for some reason causes the site to underreport UL speeds.
