    Hi Guys,
I'll make this short. My car was stolen on Tuesday night and used in a high speed chase fromStillorgan to Tallaght and dumped. Part of a serious incident involving a so called explosive device.
I get to see the car tonight at the cop shop and the insurers are assessing tomorrow morning. Very little body damage I'm told but the car did mount a kerb at speed and damaged the front two wheels. I'd also assume shocks wishbones etc are damaged. If repairable I need a garage to take it in but not a great time of year and none of the Audi places will take till near end of January.
Can anyone recommend a place in Dublin that could repair to a high standard and would take the car in before Christmas or even just after. I'm so p*ssed that these scumbags could invade my home and car and now i cant even get the car to a garage:mad:
    Car is 2004 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro S/Line
    Can anyone help???

Sorry but even to get all the sapre parts organised now would be near impossible and if it was rushed I would not be happy. Will the insurers not give you a hire car to help you get over xmas. Let the car sit over xmas and see what the insurers say then as teeh last thing you want is another visit after you get it fixed

Have you tried audi in Blackrock/monkstown, They would certainly get you the parts. Order them now regardless, The car i assume is still drivable so a quick check by a mechanic will give you cover for christmas and then get it repaired in january when they have more labour hours free or try to get the parts before christmas and you might get it done just after.Alternatively the insurance company could hire you a car.

Sorry, should be clearer. I have a car for the next 10 days through insurance but would like to get my car at least to a garage before Christmas so that work could be atarted after Christmas. The dealer centres wont take till near end January.

Bad luck there OP- why can't they rob POSs. I wouldn't bring it to a main dealer to have this work sorted. They will happily outsource the entire job and possibly not to the best bodyshop out there.

You're better off posting a request to find the best bodyshop around. Most will be far more responsive than dealers and take it now.

Probably not too handy, but Exclusive Autobody in Bray are very good, and an approved body shop for a couple of insurance companies.

Quite true. And even when they do it themselves, their work tends to be average at best. You could try Ace Autobody in Drumcondra, Ph: 01 8378366. I've used their workshop manager, Robin Sutton, before and found him excellent.

Cheers for the replies so far guys. As I said though I dont think bodywork is what it needs except the drivers wing mirror. It will be the suspension and various other parts.
My blood is just boiling at the moment that scumbags can get away this sh*t all the time.

Sorry, I just saw bodywork and ran with it! In tat case, how about Jetstar, off Kill Avenue? They're a VAG specialist. Ph: 01 2843871

    Cheers Anan
Just spoke to a guy there. He will take it tomorrow if i want even though they close for Christmas and look after it first week of January.
So thumbs up for Jetstar (and Anan).:)
    Thums down to scumbags:mad::mad::mad:

I know, its terrible to have something you value damaged or stolen, but thankfully nobody is seriously hurt or killed. Its Christmas, forget this and go enjoy yourself.

Consider improving your locks and security system.

Why would you want to take it back ? Tell the insurance company to get stuffed and replace it with like, that's what you pay for. Why would you want to take it back after god knows what happened to it ? You are under no obligation to take a stolen car back. No matter what the insurance folks tell you

parts for those S lines are major expencive, the lower control arm alone is over 200 quid and its only a small metal bar., your insurance company might not cover the work f its not done in a garage they deal with, ask them if they have garages that they send stuff to and try getting on to the garage, also ask them about a hire car.,

Is this true Stevie? I thought that you had to take it back providing the damage caused to it didnt exceed a certain amount of the cars list price, and making it not worth fixing. But thankfully i never had any dealings with my car insurance company only to ring them every year to renew, so i just assumed you couldnt just demand money or whatever instead of your repaired car.

Warning; I'd still specify having the chassis alignment checked if I were you. It might only amount to an hour or two of labour in the right hands.

Spanner swingers usually don't have that equipment (I'm sure some do) and it would be just like them to not just try changing the bent components out and leave it to you to see if it's riding properly. They would be doing you no favours and just checking it will give you great peace of mind.

You could potentially end up with wobbly and untrackable suspension if you can't be sure there isn't a twist in the chassis which is relatively easy to remedy if you're not on a tight budget.

I suspect it might still be outsourced to a chassis specialist if it isn't a straight forward new part swapover and track the steering situation.

I had a scenario a couple of years ago (also an A4) where I had a lean in my front suspension. Every guru and philosopher in the country had it and I had paid out almost €1500 to mechanics and they wanted me to really start spending. I had it 4-wheel aligned and it came out perfect even with the lean.

Eventually I gave it to a local panelbeater/ chassis specialist who is usually cited as the best in East Cork and he had the problem located in an hour. Spurious parts on one side- genuine on the other= 15mm lean:p.

I'm not trying to freak you out but I know how lots of guys in the trade think they're doing you a great favour by leaving sleeping dogs lie. I'd want no stone left unturned to make sure such an expensive car gets it's clean bill of health.

I feel checking the chassis alignment is a perfectly justifiable request. Hope it all works out one way or another and let us know the outcome.

Thanks for all the replies. I have been told by a few people now not to take the car back at all and to demand value for it.
The insurance assessor is going to look at this morning and then contact me. Jetstar in Dun Laoghaire are going to take it in Jan depending on what assessor says and I will have them do a thorough check. I dont think theres a hell of a lot more I can do till then anyway. I have a car from insurance company (cr*p Almera). Jetstar have also offered me a car when mine is with them.

Don't you mean why can't they not rob at all, surely that would be better for everyone?

OP, sorry to hear about this, hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

Any POS I've owned, I've wanted to have stolen. Think of scumbags robbing sh*t cars as performing a public service:D Just as long as they don't kill themselves;) right...

Try Park motors they are usually quick, I booked a service yesterday for the 2nd Jan,whereas other dealers were saying end of Jan and it was way cheaper than south dublin prices.
