Which model? Diesel? make sure you get a service history. Verify it.

Subject to that and a thorough inspection it might be fine.

Its a 1.4 lx...Dont think it has a service history...Gonna give it a good drive tomorrow and check all the electrics etc...Should there be anything that I should look for especially?

Do not buy a car without a service history.

...Dont think it has a service history...
    Forget about it so.

Right, done. It has a full service history. It was owned by a leasing company who leased it out to a bank and kept it well serviced.

Offer 9k. Won't get a penny more in the trade if not less.

A high mileage car like that will most likely have spent it's life going up and down the national roads network rather than being stuck in traffic all day and this type of driving is far better for the car instead of the stop start driving that is part and parcel of in town driving. So if everything else is OK, don't let the miles of the car put you off.

9k is about right, and don't forget you'll be hard pushed to sell it on if you stick a good few miles on it yourself, at least not for good money anyway. If that's okay, then fire away. Make sure you actually check and verify the service history though, don't take the sellers word for it.

Well, selling it on won't be a worry. I would say they would just drive it until it can't go anymore...will make him get me the service history!

the first gen focii wear their mileage very well anyway, we've had 2 over 130k and you wouldnt know it to drive em unless you looked at the clock, with any bit of care at all they do extremely well.

cant speak for the newer model admittedly

A Focus LX is undesirable enough without adding high mileage into the mix. It's not worth anything near €12k

Didn't the Focus win the German TUV award more than once because of reliability?

I'm sure it did. not a good enough reason to pay far too much for a basic spec on a car that is readily available second-hand and is about to be updated.

05 car should read in km's rather than miles. maybe it's a UK import,

Bought it. Couldn't be happier with it.

do you mind us asking how much you ended up paying? (is it a 1.4, I remember you were looking for something reasonably powerful to pull a trailer a while back)
