Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

working on a 3 ghz p4 yesterday with a gig of ram

it was slow for a long time (since last rebuild) and now its not even booting

i killed everything non m$ with autoruns in safe mode command prompt and this fixed the booting problem

problem now is that its still very slow to boot up with constant disk activity which contiunes for about 2 mins,
then if you click IE, you get constant disk trashing for about a minute before IE open

also just browsing the net results in a lot of disk activity

ran a scandisk and defrag no joy

checked autoruns and no nasty apps had re-inserted itself

so definately a hard drive mechanical problem or bandwith (drivers) problem

looking in device manager - hard drive controller was an "uli SCSI controller" yet the drive is most definately a single sata drive, so I presume its the wrong controller

tomorrow i'm going to see if the pc will boot up from the drive connected through a usb adapter and see if i can get it to access a second sata drive using different drivers

    any other suggestions

    Vista ? (hang on I think I see a problem with just 1GB ;) )
    Xp ?
    2003 ?

motherboard brand / model , driver brand / model ?

hdtune or manufacturers utility to check the drive
you won't get full speed unless you have proper motherboard drivers
