strange broadband unproblem

was called to a house today to set up broadband, when i got there they told me there is a problem with the phone only 2 phones in the house both had no dial tone, when you ring the house phone you get the "dooh do doooth" sound as if you just dialled an invalid number anyway plugged in the eircom bb modem, and it worked,…

anyway plugged in the eircom bb modem, and it worked, 11db noise on the line :eek:
