Will Conan Byrne be going full time or keeping his marketing job next season?

Ill try keep it short, Colm Griffin is the new marketing manager he worked with Satanta before joining Fingal, the media officer is John Fallon and Conan will be working as Community and schools officer so as you can see his work load is not that bad,so the answer is yes he will do both jobs next season but the football comes first.nice job if you can get it.

Doubt if i will last much longer over on Foot.ie. It seems i have p*ssed the so called hierarchy off. Tight little click over their it seems. Of course they and their little click can go around saying what they like but god forbid you disagree with any of them. Ah well

Sorry sporting. Cant help on the ticket thingy but will keep my ear to the ground.

    Hi all,
Does anybody know what friendlies are organised for the team? I heard that they are supposed to be travelling up to Derry next Friday? If so, does anyone have any details of travel arrangements etc.

Recieved this email from John at sporting fingal. Its seem like the games are not confirmed yet. Its all i know at the mo. Sorry I could not be more help.

    Latest signings are:

Alan Kirby from St. Patrick's Athletic and Gareth Whelan from Drogheda Utd.

League of Ireland fans will know Alan well but maybe not so Gareth.

He is 21-year old centre-back with ten appearances for Drogheda's first team.

Manager Liam Buckley said: "These are two vital signings for us. Alan is a player with considerable experience in the League of Ireland and is a huge addition.

"Gareth is a someone I have been looking at for several months and am delighted he has come on board. He is a player I think we develop even further into an established defender."

The squad list (so far) is:
    Darren Quigley (loan)
    James Hussey
    Brian Gannon
    Shaun Williams
    Gareth Whelan
    Philip Byrne
    Stephen Paisley
    John Frost
    Shane Mc Faul
    Shaun Maher
    Fiachra McArdle
    Colm James
    Conan Byrne

    Alan Kirby
    Daniel Corcoran
    Ross Gaynor
    Robbie Doyle
    Eamon Zayed
    Gary O'Neill

Also, there has been a pre-season programme scheduled but a lot of this is provisional. The weather is also having an affect on this but I will post it when confirmed.

    Best Regards

    John

We have two pre-season friendly matches confirmed
This Friday, Feb 13: Derry City v Sporting Fingal, Brandywell (7.45pm)
Sunday, Feb 28: Bray Wanderers v Sporting Fingal, Carlisle Grounds (3pm).
Also, last night, we launched our Special Olympics team.
    Here is the press release:
Kevin Kilbane backs launch of Sporting Fingal FC’s Special Olympics Team [/FONT]
Kevin Kilbane has given his backing to Sporting Fingal FC’s new Special Olympics Team.
The Republic of Ireland International, who is in line to win his 93rd cap in Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier against Georgia at Croke Park, was speaking in Dublin at the official launch of the new initiative which is a first for any League of Ireland club.
This is a great initiative by Sporting Fingal,” said Kilbane. “As the first League of Ireland club to field a Special Olympics team, they are taking a leading role and I think that is to be commended. Hopefully their lead will set the example for more clubs to follow this positive development.
The Special Olympics Team will wear the official Sporting Fingal FC kit and operate in the National Special Olympics Football
At the launch, Liz Callery, Regional Director of Special Olympics Ireland Eastern Region, said: “Special Olympics Ireland are delighted to have worked with Sporting Fingal to establish the launch of the team into the Fingal community.John O’Brien, Secretary of Sporting Fingal, said: “Sporting Fingal was founded with the very clear remit to promote inclusiveness, in all its forms, across the county. It is, therefore, a very real thrill for us to welcome the Special Olympics team on board as part of the Sporting Fingal family. I know that this relationship will not just be of benefit to special needs groups in Fingal, but will assist the further embedding of Sporting Fingal within the community of the whole county.
Also supporting the initiative was Prosper Fingal Director of Services, Pat Reen. He said:“Prosper Fingal are honoured to be involved with Sporting Fingal for a number of reasons, the most significant being the opportunities it presents to people with intellectual disabilities as a result of the commencement of a Special Olympics team within the Sporting Fingal club.
This new innovation indicates the inclusive approach of the club and creates a forum whereby the talents and abilities of the players can be recognised and applauded.
In 2007, eight individuals from Prosper Fingal represented Special Olympics Ireland in soccer in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai and with the support and expertise of Sporting Fingal we hope that this number will continue to grow. We wish the club, and particularly the Special Olympics team the very best of luck into the future.
The Football Association of Ireland are delighted with the foresight shown by Sporting Fingal, as Oisin Jordan, the FAI’s Football For All National Coordinator, stated:
Today’s launch of the Sporting Fingal Special Olympics Football Club is a unique and fantastic milestone in Disability Football and Special Olympics Ireland’s history in this country.
As National Co-ordinator of the Football Association of Ireland’s Football For All (FFA) programme, I am delighted to see a Leagueof Ireland club take the gallant step of embracing inclusion within such a high profile environment.
The FFA programme believes this environment can be mirroredin local clubs across all leagues giving all players with a disability the opportunity of accessing football whatever their ability.
The FAIisembarking on a five year Football For All Development Planwhich will give clubs the training, information and tools they need to allow them to take steps to become more embracingand inclusive.
This link forged between Special Olympics volunteers and Sporting Fingal will benefit both parties, but especially our players. It is our hope that this new wing of a Leagueor Ireland club will go from strength to strength and be replicated throughout the country.

Really no need for that. If you can't make your point without name calling, you don't have much of a point at all. The way this goes is warning - infraction - ban. Now let's get it back on topic.

If you had actually said something about the gannon chap then fair enough but coming out with the comment you did was a bit naff wasnt it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,951 ✭✭✭DSB

Ok then, it has emerged that Gerry Gannon is a bit of a crook, how do you feel about him being part of your football club?

We're not quite guilty of robbing the country blind of billions.
