First off, Happy Christmas to all and a happy new year too!

ok, for a bit of fun lets discuss this.

Consider you know you are going to die at the end of 2008 (fun thought ehhhh) so you were given the option with no expence spared to obtain for 10 long weekends in 2008, 10 vehicles you always lusted for - what would you choose?

so, its basically the "10 cars or vehicles you simply must drive before you DIE!"

    I'll start -

    1) Ferrari Testarossa - like in miami vice, read they were a sh&t poor ferrari but man, it looked good and would get you LAID to this day I think.:D

    2) BMW M5 - for the sheer power.

    3) Mercedes G-Wagon AMG - hmmmmm, for the ruggedness of it all.

    4) Bentley Continental GT - just fancy a blast in a bentley.

    5) New Nissan Skyline - for the thrills.

    6) Pegani Zonda - to see what the Top gear guys see in this car.

    7)Porche 911 GT3 - for obvious reasons.

    8)Hummer H1 - always fancied a humveeeeee.....

9)Bugatti Veyron - to see how VW wasted their money.

    10) New Audi R8 - to beat the waiting list.

maybe a list thats not to everyones taste. I'm waiting to see yours tho'.............

    Rgds,

    NIF.

Hmm. I like a bit of variety so here it goes, in no order:

    1. Bugatti Veyron (to feel how mad it is)
    2. BMW 535d (To see if my belief of it being possibly the best car in the world floats my boat)
3.Nissan Serena (the one that take 27 secs to get to 60mph, just to see how bad it is.)
    4. Mark 2 RS2000 incl LSD
    5. E30 M3
    6. E39 or E28 M5
    7. Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 or Mark 1 Golf GTI
    8. Group B RS200 (Im a big fan of the group B rally days up until their death in 1986)
    9. McClaren F1
10.Mercede Simplex (from 1902 to see what the early motors drove like)

Other contenders are the Lotus Elise, Ariel Atom, Fiat 500 original, a Lotus Cartlon, Lada Riva and an F40

Which is of course was the Lotus Carton! Don't you mean the Opel Lotus Omega anyway? That was what the car was called. We're not in the UK. Which is German;).

    Anyway here's my 10:

1)Bugatti Veyron(how could you not like it, I love the idea of a car that can burn off 100 litres of fuel in 12.5 mins, it does 2.1 mpg at this rate:eek:, and does 0-100 in 2.5 seconds, and has a vmax of 400+)
2)Ferrari Enzo(the noise alone justifies it's existence and yes I have heard one)
3)Rolls-Royce Phantom(always liked Rollers and I like it all the more that the car still looks and feels like a Roller under BMW's stewardship, BMW's management of this and MINI are as brilliant as their management of Rover was appalling)
4)Lamborghini Muircélago LP640(Italian style and sheer outrageousness and Audi engineering, what a great combination!)
    5)Aston Martin DB9(what a stunning looking car)
6)BMW E30 M3(would love to see is it really as good as it is claimed to be?)
7)Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk1, the car that originally started off the hot hatch craze
8)Koeniggsegg CCX, just for the hell of it really
    9) Nissan Skyline GT-R, had to include a straight 6 in there somewhere, I've a lot of V12s in there I notice and 2X4 pots, but it would have to be the one shown on a Jeremy Clarkson DVD with the same amount of power as a Veyron(i.e. the 1000 bhp one)
    10) BMW E60 M5, I don't want to drive this at all though, I want to be driven in it by the Sabine of Top Gear fame, the one used as the Nurbergring taxi, I would have preferred an E39 M5, but she doesn't drive that anymore!

No, as we never got them! If you wanted a LHD it was a Vauxhall.

Surely you mean '97 when the 3.2 started?
    or a '97 Type-R?
    or the final version Type-R?
    or even a Type-S?
    or a Type S.Zero?
    or a Zanardi?

The 3.0L or 3.2L will do me. I'm not fussy! :D

It was sold as an Opel in the continent and as a Vauxhall in the UK!

    See here for more.

"The Lotus Carlton (in mainland Europe, the Opel Lotus Omega) was a Vauxhall Carlton saloon upgraded by Lotus Cars to be a 177 mph (285 km/h) sports car."

I'll put it this way: If you wanted one would you import a Vauxhall or an Opel? I'm familiar with the car, having had the pleasure of drivning one a few years ago (a Vauxhall).

Yeah, I know what you mean. Tho the 3.0 tiptronic targa is not in the running.

Driving that list I presume the cause of death will be a ditch at 200mph :p

I'd import the Vauxhall (because the steering wheel is on the proper side) but I would rebadge it as an Opel because that is what it is for us!:D(FWIW the Monaro truly is a Vauxhall, because they never sold it in the Continent as is the VRX8, on the other hand, the Opel GT could never be called a Vauxhall, because it is only sold in LHD format and never made it to the UK). That is my reasoning behind calling it an Opel Lotus Omega.

I presume it's an experience not easily forgotten(driving one of only 900 cars ever made)! If they launched a similar car today it would have done much better but £48k sterling was and still is a frightening amount of money for an Opel.
