    hi,

    I just found out recently that my insurance does not cover the flat roof extension. So my insurance is up in the new year, does anyone know of a company that does insure a flat roof?

    cheers

    Had this problem finding house insurance for almost 50% flat roof due to extension to kitchen and garage conversion (most of flat roof was built with Firestone EPDM and yet considered non standard).

    Most insurance co's/brokers quoted @€;700-800p.a but Chrome Insurance came through best at €490 (for 1300ft sq house). Would really recommend them as they do not care about the materials used (just require you get inspected by surveyor for leaks ever 3yrs if want to claim for a leak in flat roof). they broker for Prestige - who apparently also will insure older houses over 100yrs old. Claire was the rep I dealt with was great.

    the only other companies who would quote for me (but came in more expensive) were:
    * Kidd Insurances http://www.kiddinsurances.ie/schemes/nonstandard.aspx
    * FBD http://www.fbd.ie/insurance/home-insurance/
    * Insure.ie (for RSA) if no more than 30% built with non standard materials
    * www.hcl.ie Hickey Clarke and Langan
    * www.finsure.ie O'Brien Finlay Insurance Associates Limited do quote for some properties that have a 50% flat roof, but will need more details in relation to the property.
