Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Simu wants to know if it's baby shoes or children's shoes. Apparently it makes a difference.

Yes - baby means less weird.

Also, if you get them bronzed, that's less weird again.

Well, it says that Thailand and Vietnam are both superior countries. The clear social acceptance of our friend there would not happen in this country of ours:(

I read this at the end of the other thread and thought 'that's a bit odd' and then 'tut shouldnt be thinking that'. The hobby is like a car crash, you shouldn't look but yet you do. I'd love some pictures

AC, hes not collecting babies. That'd just be wierd

    What, the babies?

I was just about to ask that. I figure, you bronze the kid, put it on a pedestal and then surround it with suitably sized shoes. Add some lit candles, some goat's blood and a dark room and you've got a party.

Collecting stamps is perfectly fine, but collecting babies is weird. God damn thought police.

Sounds good, I'll give it a try. Any one want to lend me their kid for an afternoon or two.

    What, the babies?

Collecting baby shoes isn't that weird as they have a cuteness factor that would appeal to some e.g. baby conz! http://85.12.27.61/~ideetje/images/2007/schoen_023.jpg

Hey, you must be my soulmate, I think your shoe collection would go nicely with my foot collection. Most men are so freaked out when they find out about it.

S/He'll see it. Let's not make a big deal of their issue hobby. Let's receive them with an open mind.

Let he who is without sinful hobby cast the first stone...

Most 10-12 year olds wear adult sizes, though. Do you also collect childish-looking shoes in adult sizes?

What shoe sizes do you prefer?

In one way it's no weirder than a guy who builds model railways.

On the other hand going back to his place on a first date (assuming you are that kind of girl) and being presented with shelf upon shelf of neatly arranged shoes for 10-12 year olds....

Y'see, you don't have this issue if you build model railways. They've never had anyone back to their place so we don't know whether or not it's socially acceptable.

Never been a collector of anything myself but realise people collect all kinds of things so OP what's the attraction of these types of shoes?

There's an awful lot of trolling tonight in AH. People aren't taking their relavite.

OP: How do you get them off the kids' feet? Do you kidnap them? After you've taken the shoes off them do you release the kids? Do you know the other well-travelled guy? Do you work together in collecting shoes and insulting women of particular nations?

    So many questions...:(

Or are you simply a troll?

One of my friends' brothers collects kids shoes. Has them all displayed in his room hanging from the ceiling. Not in a freaky way or anything, their all cool pairs of runners/boots (the little tiny ones you see in champion sports etc...) all bought from new, not taken from some kid or anything! Started off with a few then people started getting him a pair as a present when back from travels and what not so it grew into a collection.

Not so sure Karoma as Im sure other model railway type peeps would think it cool and even non train set people wouldnt be weired out. But baby shoes!!! The guest/caller/visitor would be out the door and ringing 999 lol.

There is no non freaky way to display stuff like this. Period.

But the only people to enter the room of the railway model collector person would other railway model collector people as you pointed out or mammy - mammy loves and accepts him for what he is, and the other railway model collectors... well, I'm sure if manTime had other shoe collector people over, they'd be OK with it... the point is: We'll never really know whether or not collecting model railway stuff is acceptable. Shoe collectors will have people over and can be judged like society intended.
