I got.....4 double packs of Polaroid 600 film from Argos i.e. 80 shots
and a Leningrad 4 Light Meter from Ebay.
    That's it! And I'm happy :):)

Meself and herself got a Sigma 10-20 and a 580ex MkII. I also got her some photography books. After looking through the one on macros she's decided she wants the Canon 100mm macro...

Fenster, the Orange Box is seriously cool, you'll love it!

    600 isn't transferable, is it?

No, Fajitas, that's pack film. I use the 600 in my SX70 - I'll have to get some FP100C from Mathers of Lancashire shortly. Wish it was cheaper in Ireland!

Santy (santa is for southsiders  ) also brought me a Sigma 10-20 and I've already been having fun with it. Great lens.

Santy brought me a 420 ex flash and a load of argos vouchers which I'm considering exchanging for one of those 28-135 IS boyos.. I already have a 30mm f1.4 job, the only places I see myself using it is concerts and lowlight, and would I really use it? I'm debating away with myself here, but in the meantime, I've reserved one which should be in the longford argos in the new year :)

As a stocking filler my girlfriend got me a Minolta Hi-Matic 7s, she says I need to learn to take photos instead of depending on microchips :-) She's right and I've spent most of my time playing with that than any other pressie :-)

Did I mention that I also got an Olympus Om-20 film camera that used to be my dad's :D With a 75-200 mm lens, a small tripod and several filters- some coloured ones and a starburst one. Just have to get it fixed, the spool is broken. Pity the lens doesn't fit on my D40. I know it's too early to be asking but does anyone know what the story is with lens for that camera. The lens my dad gave me is supposed to be a universal fitting one but my Nikon lens has these little bumps at the side so do only Nikon lens fit on it?

The little bumps are on it because it's a cpu lens... it can talk back to the camera through them and give it info, they'd be on most new lenses, so it's not a nikon thing... older lenses should work fine, but they can't talk to the camera and the camera can't talk to them.

That's a nice way of putting it :)

That's a nice way of putting it :)

so now you know how the lens and the camera body "talk" to each other.

The trick is how you "talk" to the camera body/lens at the same time

Otherwise you speak English while they speak Double Dutch !
