Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good (fast) DVD creation software

Im still getting to grips with Ubuntu (7.10), but i've been messing about with DeVeDe (seems to be the most recommended DVD creation software) and it seems woefully slow.

With WinAvi9 running on Vista, I can convert a typical full length movie from one or two 700mb AVI files into DVD format (VTS) in about 15-20 minutes on my current laptop.

I havent spent a lot of time messing with the settings on DeVeDe (and i will), but it's taking waaaay longer so far. Is it the fastest available, or is there anything better?

    Cheers

mencoder, it's not automated, but it's fast. There's also avidemux (nice gui).

The speed will be determined by how you encode the video. If you do a single pass fast encode, it'll be fast. If you do 2 pass with proper motion estimation etc. it'll be slower, but much higher quality (for the same file size).

I think DVD::Rip handles this type of conversion as well as the normal DVD-DivX rip.
