A lot of them asked for it to be just the ladies!

Now if you are willing to dress up as a woman, you might be able to go!

so when womenb decide to discriminate against men, it's ok? but when men decide to get together at a golf club, it's somehow sexist and worth of a large scale protest?

honestly, without a pair of testicles you people don't know what you're doing

the man's got a point tbh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,239 ✭✭✭✭WindSock

A warning for the testicles bit.

Is this Golf protest thing in real life, or a boards matter?
I'm not organising the beers so it's not up to me, really.
If a girls night out is wanted, then thats what it will be I suppose. But then again, I'm sure anybody can and will turn up anyways if theys wants to.

    Mordeth and Agent Smith,

This is a forum for women, ladies, girls whatever you want to call us. If we have a get together for the main contribuitors of the forum and the, as stated it was requested that it be a ladies only event, it will be. Now if the changes fair enough but for the time being cop onto yourselves or go and run off to daddy and tell him the girls wont play with you.

And as Sockie said, we can't stop people showing up!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

    damn right you can't.

    --edit

actually I'd like to apologise for the testicle comment. I'm not going to edit it out, cos it still gives me a chuckle to read it.. but still, a tad ott.

the guys over BG+RH didnt stop the wimmin from the turning up on friday night night, in fact a number of your group were there

what would you be talking about that men cant hear:confused:

As I Have Said A Number If Times The Girls Requested It...... And Im Not Not Gonna Go On About It Anymore. If They Change Their Minds Fine If Not Fine.

And Thats The Last Im Gonna Say About It, I Don't Hate Men, Im Not Trying To Exclude Anyone.....

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

you're not trying to exclude anyone, you are excluding them :)

I think it's fair enough that "The Ladies Lounge" beers is ladies only, particularly as it will be the first one! If they chose to invite particular men along then that's fair enough too!

Also I think the "just turn up at it" way of attending that some guys seem to be suggesting is well off. Accept that people you talk to are going for a drink and you're not invited. Just turning up is showing them a great disrespect imho.

No not particularly. I had been planning to go when it was an all-welcome event, but I was basically trying to say whatever they do, whoever they invite, and whoever they don't, it's up to the organisers.

Stop acting like a child and people might consider putting the toys back in your pram.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

if I'm stuck in a pram, acting like a child is probably the least of my worries.

    Touché! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,138 ✭✭✭takola

Honestly don't see the point of excluding the guys, Or at least the guys that actually post in here!

Still, because it's the first beers some people may be more comfortable with girls only.

I doubt I'd be able to make it, I've a week off on the 24th so I can't see them given me that weekend off too! But I will ask.

I would respectfully like to ask to join the girls on this event as I am fairly new to Ireland and would like some friends to have sensible conversation with. Now don't get me wrong I enjoy guys company, but as I am not into sport at all, in fact I hate football!, then I find that making converstaion with guys is difficult.

I also don't know enough about Ireland's political situation to have a discussion about that. I would say I am what is called a 'mertosexual' (metrosexual (met.roh.SEK.shoo.ul) n. An urban male with a strong aesthetic sense.
—metrosexuality n.) I have also been told I am in touch with my feminine side.

So if you think I would be welcome, please would you let me know? Thankyou.

Oh and all the best for 2008, may your heart be full of love and you home full of laughter.

I don't like football either, nor any sports for that matter. I was going to suggest you come along to the next BGRH Beers, until I saw this....

.... so there goes that idea. :)

Ah no, in all seriousness, keep an eye on the BGRH forum, we seem to be having regular beers of late, in keeping with the spirit of the forum.

Just remember to bring a can of condensed milk.

If the Beer Gut beers was a men only thing, I would respect that and not make a big deal about it. But it wasn't stated as men only, so I went along. However, if the Ladies event is a free for all, I would almost put money on there being more guys at it than girls.
I'm nearly thinking of suggesting we have two events, one for everyone and one for Ladies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

The poor male gender... when will the years of subjugation end?

Makes sense to have it as a ladies only event... Most boards events are usually at least 90% male. If it was opened up it would just be like any other beers.

If you want a cross gender beers then post something up in events. I'm sure you'll get many attending from here.

The wimmins are always welcome at the BGRH beers, even if they bring their Kiwi boyfriends.

So what if a 'camp' but not gay guy goes? Which one does he go to? The one just for the ladies, or the butch guys one where he would feel out of place? I would prefer to go to one with ladies, not to hit on them, I just find female company more relaxed. I had more female than male friends when I lived in the UK, so would like to expand my network here. Most guys I have met are only into football, (UK teams I notice???!) and GAA or politics. As I know very little about any of them, I would prefer to talk about shopping! Yes I am a shopaholic!

Oh and I like cooking, and can wash, iron, clean, and make beds! probably due to me being in the Army for 12yrs.

I am ROFLing quite loudly at the idea of the BGRH men being butch and manly. Despite the image we like to portray, it's not a kind of beer-swilling, back-slapping, testosterone-laden forum. We are very down to earth kinda guys, who talk about anything. If you have a look around the forum you will see there is quite a mixture of men, wimmins and in-betweeenies (I kid you not).

Ask Winsock, she'll tell you what we are really like. :)

I'm pretty sure the topics of football and politics didn't come up at all at the Beergut beers last friday.

Lots of talking about fudge and monkeys that I'm pleased to say I helped initiate...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,958 ✭✭✭DJ_Spider

^Yore Ma! When I first saw your nick, I thought it was a referance to fudge packer! LOL I know different now, and have met you so I know the truth!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I brought fingers of fudge for everyone to enjoy.

And windsock brought the monkey... I was supposed to bring one of my monkeys along so they could have a playdate... but I didn't make it home after work that even to collect him.

get yourself over to the BGRH forum, topics are not restricted to GAA and politics. The lads are great craic and manage to keep the chest beating macho outbursts to a minimum.
