We were all saddened to hear of the passing of one of the Club's greats, Tommy Harmer, at the age of 79.

Fondly known as 'Harmer the Charmer', Tommy made 205 appearances for us in the league, scoring 47 goals, between 1951-1960. He played another 47 times in the FA Cup, scoring four goals for a total of 222 appearances and 51 goals in competitive action.

An inside-forward full of tricks and a real fans favourite, Tommy was signed as an amateur in August 1948 and made his debut against Bolton in September, 1951. He eventually moved to Watford in October, 1960.

Tommy will be remembered with a minute's applause before this afternoon's match against Fulham.

Dublin Spur met him a couple of years ago, said he was a complete gentleman.

By my reckoning, he played between our two league title winning seasons.
