I know al lot of on-line retailers will be able to beat prices, but sometimes you find some handy January sales deals in and around the city.

Please post any good deals you see in the sales. :)

(Apologies to the mods if this breaks any rules)

Next has sales but apparently there were people Q'ing at 6am yesterday morning and it was a madhouse, Debenhams has a 20% or 40% off sale as far as I know,

They have some nice stuff for houses and the likes,

Phelan's Shoes had fairly substantial reductions today, but I couldn't find what I was looking for (and if I did, they probably wouldn't have had my size).

    Worth checking out though.

PC World has there usual sales on - but iv never liked that store much for buying stuff apart from the odd accessorie. There sale ends Saturday. Your probably better of buying a Dell, or getting one custom made - works out better.

I queued up for the Altitude sale this morning. There was some nice stuff, but there really seemed to be less really good stock on sale. Lots of orange and green check shirts etc.. each to their own but not for me :D

They seemed to have only a few models of shoes / runners on sale and about 5 or 6 pairs of each.

Its been a disappointing year for sales! I normally get one thing that I look at for the year and think...

"And she says I'm not a good shopper..... "

    ;)

I haven't gone to the sales yet but did pop into Next last night on my way to Tesco. Walked straight back out. I was told by someone who was there when the shop opened at 5am that it was so mobbed 3 women fainted and another 2 were fighting and security had to pull them apart and escort them from the premises

I might venture in tomorrow, I need to get a strong school bag that will take the weight of my son's books and he needs a jacket.

I didn't go into too many shops but all the sale stuff I did see was just rubbish. Didn't see anything actually good in sales. They are just counting on people buying rubbish just because it has Sale written on it. And it works.

If you want a good value 37" Plasma then DID have a Panasonic reduced to €899. It's an absolute steal. Reduced from €1,299 it's still retailing in other electrical shops for €1,099.:)

Funnily enough, I saw this too and thought it was a bit strange. I rang them this morning about it and they confirmed that there was none in stock and have had none for about 3 weeks. They were hoping to get some in in time for the sale, but none arrived. The guy did however tell me I could purchase the display model if I wanted.

Since its a plasma, I would not be interested in a display model as it has probably been on since the store opened here in Waterford.

I think some of the reason for the poor standard of sales after xmas is that a lot of stores had reduced prices pre christmas and therefore had got rid of a lot of stock that way, and all that was left for the new year sales was a lot of crap.

Im sure some deals were to be had

I went in today for a wander around and I found it just pitiful.

Don't mind him Aquos. I was with someone who ordered one on Wednesday (St. Stephen's Day). He picked it up yesterday (Saturday). Absolutely stunning picture even on normal cable. They have plenty in central stores.

I agree. I went into Debenhams yesterday, upstairs into the mens department, there were huge big signs saying "SALE" everywhere, had a look at a good few shirts and tops, nothing was reduced. Saw a plain yellow t-shirt, was labelled 30 euro, all I could do was laugh before leaving the shop
