Thats been talked about for a long time now. Its going to be a limited supply (few hundred only worldwide) and Intel are going to pick & choose the enthusiasts who get one. Doubt anyone in Irl will ever get their hands on one.

In reality, its just a big "up yours, we're doing this because we can" by Intel aimed at AMD. Just think of the costs of building a rig with one

ya its all ready broken a few WR :)

Fugger had his 2 chips ruinnng at 4.7 i think, now thats ammazing for a dual socket board.

Not necessarily: all procs for that matter, leave from US. The same applies for the procs sold through the employee purchase program ;)

The silicon wafers are produced in Irl & then shipped abroad. AFAIK the Ihs is put on in Malysia & they're packaged in the Usa.

buy direct from intel only... :(
    costing anywhere from 400 euro+ :(
    xeon support only??

no one in their right mind would buy one.

but would still be fun to play with it. ;)

    no they support normal 45nm,

ah excellent. not too bad then. was thinking the price of a xeon wasnt gonna help...
suppose someone who could use 8 core's might look into it then..

but the cost to make it worthwhile would be off the scale...
no point in buying something like this + 2 45nm's and then putting in something other than high end gear..

    would drool over 6 - 7 grand..

That's 2 completely different things. Yes, it supports 45nm, and yes it's Xeon (Socket771) processors only. Which means no Q6600 or any other Socket775 CPU would fit here :)

hmm ya seems to be all xeons but i dont know how fugger got a qx9775 in to one :)

He just popped it in. A 771 proc in a 771 board, where's the catch? :p

The QX9775 has identical specs, except it requires an LGA771 socket, that of a server platform.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,227 ✭✭✭awhir

ahh all these new proc names are confusen me :) so the qx9775 is a 771 that explainis it :D

    thanks chosen.

Tri-sli is the best they do. But as usual new motherboards have features which have not been released yet.

i thought they did quad, there was a gigabyte mobo released ages ago that boasted quad sli and dell had a quad sli machine for sale also, a long time ago

Quad sli is available, as in 2x 7950gx2's. http://techreport.com/articles.x/11006 & this article is dated 2006.
