Does anyone here know much about Bettinsoli's?

I Made a purchase today Bettinsoli Diamond Sporter shotgun for
clays only. It cost me 825 Euro's It seemed pretty decent price
to me for starting off. The Gun itself was new but was on display
so its barrel was dry and a bit pawed looking and the wood was a bit dull.
Other than that the breaking it was very stiff and it was perfectly
    clean and un-used looking.

I cant seem to get much info on these shotguns from the web.
I know next to nothing about shotguns being a rifle shooter!

I am trying to work out the exact model I have bought.
Reason being is I am curious as the English magazines advertise
the Diamond model at 650 UKP which is a bit more than
what I paid for mine. I cant help but feel I have just bought
    an older model or something.

Dealer just sold me it as a Bettinsoli Diamond sporter but
thats the only description I have of it.

It had two chokes in it and he appeared to only have put two other
chokes in the plastic case it came in even though I thought this
gun came with 5 chokes!! or so I believe from surfing the web.
Should I ask about 5th is? or should I be happy with 4???
I here some of the browning guns used to come with 5 chokes
but now only come with 4.

The one I bought was a 28" barrel with vented barrels it had a
Silver/Crome coloured Trigger yet on the pics on the internet the trigger is gold coloured???
It has a standard brass bead too and not a sporter bead
so dunno if thats normal or not.

I have heard some mention of the MKII and MKII but dont know what
the differences are between the models.
I have bought may be the MKI or something else.

Either way I am not too fussy, as what I bought felt great for the price.
The engraving on the trigger looked stamped on as it was a little off center but other
than that the gun feels great to hold.

Cheers, Was at a clay shoot today near the dealer who's a thorough
gentleman so he let me "test fire" it. (Only paid for it yesterday so still
have to submit my license application)

I love it! I shot much better than when practicing locally with some old
club guns. Overall I still did crap and have loads to learn as I am only starting
out with shotgun. There was the fastest rabbit clay I have ever seen and I managed to hit it 3 out of 5 times which I reckon was pure luck. What was
amazing was nearly everyone else was missing most/a lot of the time. It gave
the morale a great boost.......only to be brought back down again to normal
when I missed a 5 pairs at other stands.

I am still getting to grips with clay shoots. The majority
of people are fine and very friendly but there appears to be a pack
mentality for some people. You might be standing in line
waiting your turn or waiting to put your name down or with a ticket and you tend to get a pack of over confident loud mouths every so often just barge past you with a wad of match cards?? or several and hand them in and getting called before you. Or some lads just totally ignore the fact you are there before them. Its something I have experienced 2-3 times now while
you would not mind one person going before your or some one honestly making a mistake it tends to happen quite a lot at clay shoots from my
    very limited experiance.

All the Italian guns seem to be good. I have a fabarm simi auto too.
I'm planing on buying a rifle what are you shooting?
I shoot pistols too, Theres a good chance they will be back if Labor get into power after Pat Rabbit spoke about the issue recently. The sooner them <snip> in there now are booted out the better or we'll have no guns at all!

First of all well may you wear!!

Secondly, your attitude is endemic in the gun trade in Ireland. A lot of dealers are members of the "F*** him, he doesn't know any better" brigade. You paid for 5 you should get 5. Don't let him away with it!

It would be no harm asking one of the nicer experienced shots to have a look at the gun to make sure it's a reasonable fit. Thta's more important than make or model.

Don't get too disheartened - as you say the vast majority of shooters are decent people but like in any walk of life you will come across a few pr1cks!

And you have a half decent gun there for the price. Bettinsoli are a good reliable make and shouldn't let you down. Enjoy your shooting when you eventually get your licence.

    Midland

As i say my dealer wants £670, i'v offered him £600, minus £350 from a gun i'v bought from him two years ago, then I let the hare sit for a while,
he's phoned twice, third time i'm offering less plus cart's, I think your
man is a little high, difference in euro and sterling is'nt that great,;)

Well Bullets, I put a deposit on bettinsoli diamond yesterday. The thing that swung my decision to buy it was the weight or lack of weight should I say. It must be less than seven pounds, lovely to hold ,lovely to mount etc. I felt good about my decision as a more experienced friend of mine looked impressed when i told him considering he normally takes the piss out of me when we go shooting. Anyway enjoy the gun. Keep it straight and safe.:)
