Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

replacing shower head

My van, for some reason, has had the shower removed from the bathroom...

There is a tap in the basin, which I presume once contained a pull out shower head.

Is it easy to replace the tap with a showerhead??... and can anyone point me in the direction of where to buy one/suss out prices.

Also maybe where to get a replacement shower tray, as I notice a large crack in it - or can this be repaired simply using some amalgamating tape?

    Thanks

    Chris

The crack in the shower basin is the reason why there is no shower head.

Cracks in shower basins are notoriously difficult (or impossible) to repair, as the basin is usually sort of semi-suspended off the floor (to allow for the slant needed for drainage) and therefore always "gives" when you stand in it, breaking any repair weld.

So you would need a new one. Usually the buggers are model specific and can only be got from the original maker of your camper (if at all) ...be prepared to leave several limbs at the till for getting one.

Then there is the fun of getting the old one out (they're usually glued to the floor ) without ripping half the camper apart and then fitting the new one and getting it to seal to the drain.

If you know someone who's handy with GRP resin (a boat builder / surf board maker), you could try to get a basin made that fits into your old one.

....and then you can start worrying about the shower head :D

sorry, to have no better news

(hopefully I'm wrong and your particular shower basin is different)

    Chris,

What about a skin?? Just spotted this on another website. http://www.marcleleisure.co.uk/bath/bathroom02.htm

Its a skin that sits into your existing tray so that you don't have to remove the old one. If any of the skins look like your existing tray it could work?

I'm sure if you contact a Dethleffs dealer they will be able to tell you if the tray is available and how much it would be to buy.

    Hi,
I know a guy who specialises in fiberglass wet rooms. I'd bet he would be able to fix your shower tray/area for you. If you are interested send me an email and I'll give you his details.
    Regards.

Thanks An Ron (sorry can't do the fada), but the yoke is made of a plastic, not fibreglass.

I've read elsewhere of some resins that may be able to do the trick - JB Weld, Devcon or Milliput - anyone any experience of using any of these at any time? - Also came acroos Mr Tubby Bath resurfacing kit...
