ok guys i have Hyundai accent (unfortunately) and can't afford new in coming year.

problem started a year ago. engine light on speedometer started flashing on the move.

    1) I went to a guy so called engine management specialist. He charged me 50 bucks and told me he has updated chip setting.

    2) remained OK for around two months before it started flashing again. He charged € 40 (discount) second time and told me battery has gone. It was generating less current. I replaced battery.

    3) perfect for 6 months but then started flashing intermittently. I decided to go Hyundai dealer. They charged me 90 quids and told me nothing is wrong at the moment and i should worry only if it remains red most of the time.

    4) now i have driving test on 22nd jan and engine light is screwed up again. (this time always remains red). Please suggest me what to do.

Is it possible to be battery problem again with in a year time.

Defo not a battery problem i would say, a battery would last at least two years.

Heres a stupid question - which light is on? There is no such thing as an "engine" light but there is a battery light.

Has the battery ever actually run flat? Have electrical features like the wipers slowed down when switched on?

    Mike.

Hi Mike, i don't know about others but in my car there are two different warning lights for 'battery' and 'check engine' light. I was told by dealers mechanic that there can be number of reasons for this light and flat or (rather weak) battery is one of those.
