Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Fowler to LFC was a great signing. If only that it endeared Rafa to the fans.

The guy was past it, only Liverpool fans thought he was a good signing but they are blind with old legends(rightfully so tbf)

He was free, raised morale incredibly, and scored a few goals. No downsides really..

Carson meanwhile was bought for a million, played his part in the champions league win at home to Juve (would have had Arphexad in goal otherwise!) and after 2 loans is now worth 8ish million. Sounds like a good transfer to me.

Ahead of Vidic, Evra or Mascherano? And lol at Theo Walcott in there. Lots of potential but hasn't really shown much at Arsenal.

nope, didn't say that, just saying there are merits to Fowler and Carson's inclusion on the list. The Walcott one is pretty nuts as so far theres no real benefit from it..

    All lists

    1. are stupid
    2. have things that people don't agree with
    3. cause controversy
    4. are published because the publishers know this

Manchester City sign striker Caciedo for £5m and close in on Benjani

Manchester City have signed Ecuador striker Felipe Caciedo from FC Basel in a £5m deal.

Having beaten Everton and Atletico Madrid to Caciedo, 20, City are still hoping to sign Benjani from Portsmouth.

Talks were expected to continue after Pompey's game at Manchester United last night.

If we get both I'll be delighted. Benjani would fit the bill for here and now with the youngster given time to get some experience.

    Super signing for Keano

I honestly don't think Sven wanted a 'big' name. He's clearly buying for the future with this 20 year old Ecuador lad from Basle. Unfortunatley we don't have anyone at the moment to score goals so Benjani is a stop gap for the next 18 months or so.

Well it's all over the City forums that he's been seen at the COMS going for a medical. So say Sky Sports News anyway.

    Yeah same story I saw.

He's the third top scorer in the Prem so I'd have him before Vassell thanks very much. Still to be confirmed though.

According to SSN it depends on Pompey getting Defoe, which could depend on Spurs getting a replacement for him, with Villa a name linked. It's like a big merry-go-round. I'd be shocked if Spurs got Villa.

Alfonso Alves has agreed his move to Boro, who'll find out today if he will be granted a work permit.

    http://www.setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/01/31/Prem-Benjani-having-City-medical/?facets/sport-space/football/great-britain-locale/
Portsmouth’s top scorer Benjani is reportedly having a medical at Manchester City ahead of a shock move to Eastlands.

Sven Goran Eriksson has been searching for a striker throughout the January transfer window, and it appears he has found his man in 12-goal Benjani.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp ruled out the sale of any strikers on Wednesday, claiming he cannot afford to lose any attacking players.

With Kanu and John Utaka away on international duty and David Nugent sidelined by injury, Pompey’s only other fit striker is Milan Baros.

However, news that Benjani is having a medical at City suggests Pompey may be about to tie up a deal for Tottenham’s Jermain Defoe – as reported in L’Equipe.

Benjani's potential exit from Fratton Park will likely be met with some disapproval by Pompey fans though, who have witnessed two hat-tricks from the Zimbabwean this season.

    Lovely

    And news just in -

    http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/31012008/58/transfers-transfer-talk-live.html
13:04 - Biggest news of the day so far - Benjani is undergoing a medical, but not at Manchester City as expected. The Zimbabwean striker is at White Hart Lane! And surely he won't fail a medical at Tottenham - he played last night for goodness sake - which all means, unless TT is a total idiot (although we're not ruling that out), that Benjani will become a Spurs player later today. And that could lead to a last minute exit for Jermain Defoe , who Portsmouth are still keen on.

    I'm stressin big time here

the aimar rumour has been going around for a while.
but at the prices quoted and given his age (and isn't he injured?)
then unless its a loan deal - i can't see it happening.

    Walcott is a nonsense suggestion.
