Just wondering if anyone has had to get a new NCT disk and cert? Just bought a car and the previous owner has no NCT documentation. I've checked NCT online and the car does have it untill march. I'm driving around with no disk though. NCT website's not too good as it only gives ya info in the case of the loss of the disk or the cert. Can't find anything on previous threads.

I'd imagine you would apply for certificate, this will have the disc attached...

    18. What will I do if I lose my NCT Certificate or NCT Report?
For a fee of €12.70, you can replace your lost NCT Certificate. You must go to your local Garda station and obtain an RF134 form, which must be stamped and signed by the Gardaí. Send this completed form back, along with either your windscreen disc or NCT Certificate, whichever part you may still hold, and a cheque or postal order payable to NCTS Ltd., to: The Test Certificate Administrator, NCTS Limited, Lakedrive 3026, Citywest Business Campus, Naas Road, Dublin 24.

For a replacement NCT Report, simply write in with car registration number, make and model and owner details along with the €12.70 fee to the Test Certificate Administrator. These fees may be subject to change.

OK. So I just don't attach anything to the RF134 form at all?

You don't need NCT to tax the car, even though the forms indicate that you do.

If the NCT is valid til March, just get a fresh test done. You can do it up from three months before the expiry date of the current cert, and it will be valid for 2 years from March (if the car passes that is!).

    Not your ornery onager
