Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wireless router questions

Ok, i'm not really good with routers and all this stuff, but i'm trying to get something working here which i'm not sure whether i can or not.

Anyway, at the moment i've got eircom broadband and ntl broadband coming into the house. My xbox is plugged into the NTL modem beside it(probably getting rid of NTL soon). I've also got one of these wireless routers http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00008SCFL.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg which isn't doing anything at the moment. Can i use the router to connect to the eircom wireless network so everything is on this network? (is there a difference between a wireless receiver and a transmitter?)

Ultimate goal is to get connect360 working but the laptops aren't on the same network as the xbox.

    Any help appreciated.

You must have posted this on a dead day and it got lost !

Use the netgear router as a wireless bridge.

If you connect to it, (data on net if you look on netgear site), and change it's config from router to bridge mode only, it ceases to be a router and you can connect it to your xbox 360 via ethernet cable.

The 360 will think it is hard wired and just enter a IP address on the xbox in your lan range with the primary and secondary DNS.

Then update the netgear unit with your wireless settings (WPA or WEP). It should then work nicely with the eircom router. Do not forget to go to expert mode in the eircom router and add the xbox live service with the IP address you assigned your xbox. Also click on UPnP on the settings menu to alow it. Set th firewall to low. It should then work !

It reads complex but it is easier to do than it reads.

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear it's possible!

How do you change it's config from router to bridge? I'm on the router manager page (http://192.168.1.1/) but i can't find any way to change it.
