Taxing a new car online

Trying to tax a new car bought yesterday. However motortax.ie is not recognising the password (the last 6 digits of the chassis no). According to the site i should be able to tax online the day after registration (which is actually down as 01 Jan). I can only assume there's a backlog at this busy time of year(?). Anybody…
