Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I need a new hobby, I've always been a keen gamer, and for the last 6-7 years I’ve competed in numerous teams throughout england/ireland winning loads a leagues and attending gaming tournaments..(Ps I keep this side of my life to myself :D) I still go out on weekends with mates and get hammered etc etc and most of them are oblivious to my nerdy ways :D However I've deleted EVERYTHING gaming related off my computer including my wow account. For those of you who don't know what wow is let me just say it EATS you alive :D

Anyway I used to be a keen footy player but haven't done so in a while and want 2 get back to it, I still keep fit as I run most evenings for 30/45 mins so that’s no probs..

Basically I’ve so much spare time on my hands I don’t know what to do..

    SUGGESTIONS./

That's because all our "tells" are done as emotes... and sadly they just don't seem to work right in this strange game you call RealLife(TM).:D

Coming home from westport after the new year, myself and the lads decided were gonna splash out on some mountain bikes. Were gonna get decent enough ones and go up the mountains on them at the weekends. I did it before and it was class. Then when the days get longer, we could go after work and then head to Whistler on holidays with some of the other lads that are already into it. They swear by the fun of it and also it'll keep you fit

Just to clarify a few things, im 22. in full time employment so to jump ship is not an option for me..

I already play poker and i've won a few tournaments in the casino i frequent, been playing since i was about 18 and still play online, but like i said im trying to stay Away from the computer....as i know i'll get the urge to game again..

ps: I was addicted :D and dont wanna go back :D

Dont take up poker. I did and i regret it! Not lost that much but definately down, even though won large amounts some nights. Problem is, if you go on the tear with your mates like you said - and dont score - you'll be tempted to hit the Casino!

Music's always good. you prob got good hand eye coordination from the gaming. Guitar playing will eat your life up- if you're fond of musak.

This could be for you :)

Plenty of fresh air if you want it, plenty of gear porn, plenty of walking if you want to, plenty of adventures to be had, plenty of money to be made, and it's pretty enjoyable and satisfying to boot :)

You could take up an instrument or Warhammer :D it can be very rewarding but tends to take up a lot of money and effort, but it could be worth a look

Try astronomy. It's a very simple and fascinating hobby. All you have to do is go outside and look up. Check the forum under "Sci".

Read books, learn about astronomy, take up fishing or hiking, start an aquarium, golf, snooker, learn to paint, take a course in something which interests you but has nothing to do with your job. Ah, the options are endless! :)

I don't know, look for Jimmy Hoffa? That'd be sure to keep you occupied.

    Nessie's in San Jose.

The two obvious routes out of gaming would be airsoft/paintball or target shooting if you want to go outdoors, or you can move to historical miniature wargaming, (Basically Warhammer for serious people, though I play both) though the latter is a little under-supported in Ireland.

Take up something voluntry, like St Johns ambulance or something.
Will get you out of the house and give a new skill, andprobably give you quite a lot of self satisfaction as well.

I'd second the archery suggestion. I used to spend a lot of time online but now I'd much rather be out in the back garden shooting. It's great exercise for your upper body too.. arms, shoulders, back and chest muscles.

It's an easy sport to get into, but gets more and more technical the longer you spend at it.
