Re Gauge i dont think i said immigration will cause a downturn in the economy.
What i did say was agrowing resentment top foreign workers especially in the construction industry.
A race to the bottom wage wise.
Why employ an irish man for a proper wage when you can get say 2 or 3 poles, russians, georgians, bulgarians etc to work for less than minimum wage.
Most foreign guys on building sites get paid cash in hand they dont pay tax.
And having worked in dublin for 6 years ihave seen it first hand.
The guys get treated very badly no holiday pay work in atrocious conditions eg heavy rain when anyone with some sense and self respect wouldnt eg your average irish man.
They work in the rain because there afraid they will get sacked and its possible they have familys to support at home.
However when irish guys get laid off and they are replaced by foreign guys of course it causes resentment a lot of people in construction know how to do nothing else you dont need a degree from ucd to sweep and shovel, carry bricks etc.
The biggest winners in the masses of immigration are big business while there labour costs go down prices eg property houses still rose sharply.
If you have ahandy job in say the civil service one where you cant get sacked im sure youll be grand but in a lot of industries eg construction, hotels, to compete wage wise with people who are willing to live 3 or 4 to a room in a hosue will be impossible hence resentment hence more racial attacks sooner rather than later i think too.

I always wonder in immigration-natives jobs debates how come everyone quotes the "dey tewk our jarbs!" South Park line. You know, seeing as the episode had two points

a- Migration into the US is often a by product of using the economies to the south as a source of cheap food and other goods

I agree to a large extent with sickpuppys last post and he makes some good points. It is not immigrants or immigration itself that will cause any resentment (in most cases) but the way employers exploit them for cheaper labour, thus replacing mostly irish (in this case) workers. At a time of boom this is felt less are there are a lot of jobs to go around, but if things take a turn for the worst as they seem to be doing about now, and employment rises to 7% or so, there will be a big surplus of people who feel squeezed out by immigrants, despite the facts that the imigrants are being treated badly in a large number of cases themselves.

Personally I am more annoyed about outsourcing and crap like that, but it is what we benefited from years ago when we had a cheap laboutforce, so what goes around etc.

In relation to your statement on indymedia, the story about the men involved in the Celtic Wolves meeting on 9 September being before the courts was accurate. The Limerick Leader followed up on the story on their County Edition the week before the Limerick Man who was charged in relation to the meeting was due to appear in court. The Leader article carried more information than either my blog or the indymedia website.

In Relation to the Movement to Save Ireland. Encourageing people to hand in posters to City Council is the right and proper thing to do. Fly postering is illegal under section 19 of the Litter Pollution Act of 1997. Would you prefer if I encouraged people to lynch those sticking up posters?

In relation to left wing postering, those that I have seen in the city were not fly-pasted on to walls, but tied to poles, and are not in breach of Section 19 of the litter pollution act because, unlike MSI posters, they were announcing public meetings, To the best of my knowledge, you are allowed to do this.

There's plenty of Boards.ie members who are stormfront members, some make their presence known while others keep them separate, but a quick glance at the site and you can see some familiar screennames etc.

I'm not one of them though, I don't think they present their points of view in an even half intelligent manner so wouldn't even think of entering a discussion with them.
