    Is there anything being caught in the sae at this time of year?I'm in the Dublin area,Howth,Clontarf etc

    what ever gave you that idea...? only because the mackerel arnt around doesnt mean there is nothing to catch..
    good sized codling and whiting to be got this time of year, bass are still around on the east coast
    plenty of coalfish around to.. and some spots still holding ray.. plenty of smaller species around too, rockling, flatties, doggies, pouting and poor cod..:D

    worm baits and squid seem to work well this time of year too

    Codling and whiting like cold water .. so in the summer they migrate out to the deeps, but in the winter the shallows cool, and when they get colder than the deeps the fishing for these species can be very rewarding.
