Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My boss is paying me to meet his wife in heathrow and get her from heathrow immigration to dublin because she has no english and he's afraid she won't get from terminal 3 to 1 in time and then won't be able to ask for help.

He has a problem with his visa so he can't go... so I wonder if it is completely legal for him and her to be here.
IF she is an illegal, will I be in trouble simply for meeting her, saying hi and showing her the way from one terminal to another?I don't know if he'd even tell me if she was illegal.

I know it seems like a crazy thing to get involved in but I feel so sorry for her, she's only a teenager and she's in an arranged marriage with a man on the other side of the world in a country where she can't speak the language.

By the way, he's a very nice man and I know there are no ulterior motives.

If you're going through Heathrow her Visa/Documents/Passport will be checked. She'll be checked again upon entering Ireland but to be frank, it's a half assed attempt at best. I can't see how, by meeting her and showing her the way, you'd be held responsible for anything. Besides, you'd be entering through different gates as I recall.

Edit: not a legal opinion, one based on experience.

No is not legal for him if he doesnt have the correct papers.

I would be uncomfortable about doing what you are doing.

Heathrow's in England, someone could easily not have a visa to go to England but be legally in Ireland.

You are not an Immigration officer, you are helping the wife of a friend in "good faith"

If the Wife has a visa to get into England, tell her to go to Belfast or Derry and cross the Border by car.

The presumption of innocence applies to all people you meet, they probably know more about their legal affairs than you could, so there's no problem.

Heard a story about 9 Finns and a Russian coming to Dublin for a weekend form Helsinki.
Russian spent 2 nights in the Joy incommunicado till the next flight back to Helsinki with a free seat. travel agent and common law partner of the inmate were not allowed communicate with the russian, but neither faced any legal issues.

    No legal advice.

Edit: though I do sympathise with your predicament.
