Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Deferring civil proceedings?

I'm currently a defendant in a civil case waiting on an appeal to the Circuit Court to be processed.

Due to work committments I will be in the US for the next three months. In these circumstances is it possible to have the case deferred?

    Thanks

I don't know, but your solicitor probably does.

Yes your right, he probably does. Thanks for the insightful advice
If most replies to posts were of this nature, there would not be much use for a Legal Discussion forum on boards.ie

I think you'll find the answer you're looking for here.

Typically, people will say something like this:

If this case is already making its way through the court system one can only presume that you do have a solicitor acting on your behalf.

What I do not understand, therefore, is how it seems productive or wise to ask people surfing the web instead of your (paid! :D) legal professional who is managing the case for you? This isn't meant to be a ratty attack response or anything like it - I simply do not understand the rationale.

I was just asking for a quick "opinion". Of course I have my own solicitor (whom I can't contact over the weekend) but this is something I'm quite apprehensive about and was looking for something that might go some way to putting my mind at ease. Guess I'll have to wait till Monday, I'm a very impatient person Gold help me!

Fair enough I guess, kifi. Best of luck with your case.
